Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main change from individual bus stops to a bus station, and note the change from a shared car park to separate staff and public parking. However, the overview is not accurate: the maps do not show the hospital increasing in size, and “more modle” does not clearly describe the changes. Some locations are also misreported. The bus station is west of Hospital Road, not in the south-west, and the bus stops are not described as connected to City Road. The account also misses the two roundabouts’ positions at the Ring Road and City Road junctions. To make the response more complete, give a clear overview of the main access changes, then describe each feature using precise locations and relationships.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has separate paragraphs and attempts to group the overview, earlier layout and later changes, so there is some organisation. However, the progression is difficult to follow because several ideas are crowded into long sentences, particularly the paragraph beginning “Initially, in 2007”. Linking expressions such as “However”, “Although” and “On the other hand” are sometimes used inaccurately or do not show a clear contrast. References such as “they” and “it” are also unclear, making it hard to tell which feature is being discussed. Use one paragraph for a concise overview and organise the details by feature or location, with clear references and simpler links between sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “ring road”, “bus station”, “roundabout” and “car park”, which helps communicate the topic. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the description unclear, such as “increased the size”, “made more modle” and “public park” for the public car park. Spelling errors, including “aftter” and “rhe”, are noticeable, and “couple of roundabout” is not an accurate or natural description. Build a more precise set of terms for map changes and locations, such as “was converted into”, “to the east of” and “at the junction of”. Check spelling and use the exact facility names shown.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
There are attempts to combine ideas using clauses and time references, but the range of sentence structures is limited and complex sentences are often faulty. For example, “Overall, they increased the size of city hospital over time” has an unclear subject, while “Although, bus stop is connected with city road and two roundabout” is incomplete and does not form a clear contrast. Errors also occur with articles, plurals and verb forms, as in “three bus stop”, “there used to be empty” and “they add”. These problems sometimes make relationships between features difficult to understand. Practise accurate past-tense descriptions and complete sentences, and use shorter sentences when explaining several map changes.
