Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad change from the 2007 layout to the more developed 2010 arrangement, including the bus station and the separation of staff and public parking. However, several key details are inaccurate: the maps show two roundabouts, not three, and the new public car park is east of the Ring Road rather than in the northeast. The bus station is west of Hospital Road, but its access points are not described as “entry and exit” points. The overview also makes unsupported claims about controlling traffic and ensuring safety. To strengthen the report, accurately compare the original bus stops and shared car park with their 2010 replacements, and describe the main road changes without adding explanations not shown by the maps.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is an attempt to organise the response with an overview followed by details, and linking expressions such as “Furthermore” and “Moreover” signal additions. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the response does not clearly separate the 2007 layout from the 2010 changes, and several details are compressed into one paragraph. The final sentence repeats the idea of roundabouts and traffic management rather than adding a distinct comparison. Some connections are also unclear, as in “Both of these points are connect with two new nearby roundabouts.” Use a clear overview, then group the changes by roads, bus facilities and parking, with accurate references to what changed.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response uses some relevant map vocabulary, including “roundabouts,” “bus station,” “car parking,” and “Ring Road,” and attempts more formal phrasing such as “considerable development.” However, word choice and spelling errors are noticeable and sometimes make the description less precise. For example, “vacated area” is not a natural way to describe the site where the bus station was built, while “exactly entry and exit point” is unclear. “Seperated” and “oder” are misspelled, and “built” is repeated frequently. Aim for precise location and change vocabulary, such as “was converted into,” “was relocated,” and “to the east of,” while checking spelling and avoiding unsupported evaluative language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a range of sentence forms, including an overview sentence and sentences beginning with “Furthermore” and “Moreover.” However, errors occur frequently in basic agreement, verb forms and sentence construction, which sometimes make relationships between features unclear. For example, “The two maps illustrates” should use a plural verb, and “three roundabouts was built” has incorrect agreement and tense. In “Both of these points are connect,” the verb form is incorrect; “many changes had done” also needs a passive construction. Some sentences are fragments or incomplete, particularly the final line ending “to maintain traffic flow near the hospital.” Practise accurate past passive forms and complete sentences before adding more complex structures.
