Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both years and identify the main changes: the bus stops are replaced by a bus station, the shared car park becomes staff-only, a public car park is added, and two roundabouts are introduced. These are relevant comparisons and give the response a clear overall focus. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear. In 2007, the hospital is bordered by the Ring Road on its north, west and east sides, rather than being surrounded in all directions; the car park is east of Hospital Road, not described as a gap in the Ring Road. The 2010 roundabouts are at the Ring Road and City Road junctions, but “at the South direction of the Ring Road” obscures this. The conclusion also adds unsupported claims about safety and slowing traffic. State the key locations more precisely and avoid inferring purposes not shown on the maps.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces the maps, describes 2007 and 2010 in separate paragraphs, and ends with a comparison. This makes the broad progression easy to follow. Time markers such as “In year 2007” and “In year 2010” help distinguish the two plans. However, some linking and referencing are mechanical or unclear. For example, “At last” does not naturally introduce the final feature, and “the Second roundabout from the city hospital” leaves the location difficult to interpret. The conclusion repeats earlier information rather than drawing together the most important changes. Improve cohesion by grouping features by location or by change, and use precise references such as “the northern roundabout” and “the southern roundabout.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant map vocabulary, including “Ring Road,” “Hospital Road,” “Bus station,” “Staff Car park,” and “roundabout,” so the reader can identify many of the features. There is also an attempt to describe change with phrases such as “some several changes made.” However, the range and control of vocabulary are limited, and several spelling and word-choice errors reduce clarity: “anf,” “serevral,” and “conenctivity” are misspelled, while “special parking” and “safety drive and slow drive” are unnatural or imprecise. Use standard map-description phrases such as “was added,” “was converted into,” and “on the eastern side.” Check spelling carefully and choose neutral terms that describe visible changes rather than guessing their purpose.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the main timeline is generally understandable. However, grammatical errors occur across the response and sometimes make relationships between features unclear. For example, “The given maps shows” has subject–verb disagreement, while “the city hospital covered with ring road” is missing a suitable verb form and articles. In “At the South direction of the ring road connected with the Hospital road,” the sentence lacks a clear subject and verb structure. Tense and agreement also need attention in “several changes has been made.” Practise forming complete passive sentences for map changes, such as “A public car park was added,” and check articles, plurals, and verb agreement. More accurate sentence patterns would make your comparisons clearer.
