Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the two years and mention several relevant features, including the Ring Road, Hospital Road, City Road, parking and bus facilities. However, the maps are described only minimally, and there is no clear overview of the main changes. Some details are inaccurate or difficult to interpret: in 2007 the shared car park is east of Hospital Road, not on its left, and the bus stops are on both sides of that road. In 2010, the bus station is west of Hospital Road, while the new public car park is east of the Ring Road; these changes are not reported clearly. To improve, give a concise overview first, then accurately compare the key changes, including the roundabouts, removal of individual bus stops, and separation of staff and public parking.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic chronological structure: it describes 2007 first and then 2010, using “First of all” and “Secondly” to signal the sequence. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, there is little progression within either description, and the long strings of loosely connected details make relationships between locations hard to follow. Phrases such as “the left side campass of the Bus Stop” and “the center side show the Hospital road” do not clearly establish what is beside or connected to what. Organise each map’s features into clear sentences, use location references consistently, and add a direct comparison between the maps. This would make the progression clearer and reduce reliance on basic sequencing markers.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “Ring Road,” “Hospital road,” “Bus Stop,” “car parking,” and “Bus station,” so the topic is recognisable. However, the range is basic and repetitive, and inaccurate word choice or spelling often strains understanding. For example, “precent” appears to be intended as “present,” while “campass” and “palce” are misspelled; “the change the palce of public” is also unclear as a description of the parking changes. Use precise location and change vocabulary, such as “located to the east of” or “was replaced by,” and check spelling. Avoid repeating “show” and “the” as substitutes for more exact verbs and phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

There is an attempt to divide the response into sentences and use time references, but grammatical control is very limited. Many clauses lack a clear subject–verb structure, as in “First of all show the map the year of 2007” and “the city hospital show the Ring Road.” Articles, prepositions and agreement are also frequently inaccurate, making relationships between features difficult to understand. Most sentences are fragments or run together several ideas without clear grammatical links, so meaning is often distorted. Practise writing short, complete sentences with a subject and verb, for example, “In 2007, the Ring Road surrounded the hospital on three sides.” Then add accurate location phrases and use past-tense verbs consistently when describing the maps.
