Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the two years and mention several relevant changes, including the new bus station and changes to parking. However, the response does not provide a clear overview of the main transformation, and some details are inaccurate or difficult to interpret: in 2010 the public car park is east of the Ring Road, not simply on the right of Hospital Road, while the existing car park becomes staff-only. The maps also show that the bus stops were replaced by a bus station and that roundabouts were added at both ends of Hospital Road, but these key features are not clearly reported. The final description of moving along the road is not an effective map summary. Select the major changes and describe their locations precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to compare 2007 with 2010, and phrases such as “while it compare to” signal a contrast. However, the information is not arranged into a clear overview followed by organised details. The second paragraph shifts to directions (“move forward” and “turn right”) rather than continuing a systematic comparison, and the long second sentence combines several locations and changes without clear boundaries. This makes relationships between features difficult to follow. Use separate paragraphs for an overview and the main changes, then group related features—for example, road changes, bus facilities, and car parks. Clear sentence boundaries and more precise linking would make the progression easier to understand.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “roundabout,” “bus station,” “car parking area,” and “Ring Road,” so the reader can recognise the general subject. However, the range is basic and several choices are inaccurate or awkward, such as “they have a city road,” “on the move forward,” and “a gate of car parking.” Spelling errors, including “acess,” “hostipal,” and “happend,” also reduce clarity. Aim for concise map-description language and accurate location phrases, such as “lies to the east of” or “connects to.” Avoid conversational directions and use precise terms for what was added, removed, or redesignated.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to connect ideas in longer sentences, but these structures are often difficult to control. For example, “These maps illustrates” has subject–verb disagreement, while “on the south east they have a city road goes” lacks a clear grammatical structure. Tense and clause formation are also problematic in “all changes are happend in 2010,” and punctuation does not adequately separate the many ideas in the long second sentence. These errors frequently make the intended relationships unclear. Build the description from accurate simple sentences first, such as “In 2007, the bus stops were located along Hospital Road.” Then add controlled comparisons using “whereas” or “by 2010.”
