Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify several important changes, including the new public car park, the bus station and the separation of staff and public parking. However, the response addresses the map only partially: it does not clearly describe the overall road layout or explain that two roundabouts were added, at the Ring Road and City Road junctions. The statement that the public car park is east of the hospital is imprecise; it is east of the Ring Road, while the staff car park is east of Hospital Road. The final sentence is incomplete, and several features are underdeveloped. The response is also 113 words, below the required 150 words; 10 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Include a fuller overview and accurate location details.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has an opening, an overview and two detail paragraphs, so there is an attempt to organise the information. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Moreover” and “Additionally” also signal relationships between points. However, progression is difficult to follow because the details are not grouped clearly by location or by the changes from 2007 to 2010. For example, the sentence about the “single road” and roundabout does not make the map change clear, and “That how it is…” leaves the response unfinished. Some references, such as “the another east side,” are unclear. Organise the comparison into a clear overview followed by connected details about the road junctions, parking and bus facilities.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “roundabout,” “bus station,” “staff parking” and “public car park,” which helps communicate the main subject. There is also an attempt to vary wording with “established” and “converted.” However, the range is limited, and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “establishment … takes place,” “make mobility easy,” and “build only staff car park.” Spelling errors including “estalished,” “accesible” and “innthe” also reduce clarity. Use precise verbs for map changes, such as “was added,” “was replaced” or “was designated,” and check spelling and natural combinations before finishing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of sentence forms, including an overview sentence and sentences beginning with “Moreover” and “Additionally.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur in basic structures as well as longer sentences. For example, “The two maps illustrates” has subject–verb disagreement, while “in 2010 establishment … takes place” has an unclear article and tense pattern. “That how it is new…” is incomplete, and “on the another east side” shows problems with article use. These errors sometimes make the intended relationships difficult to understand. Practise accurate past-tense descriptions of completed changes and check agreement, articles and sentence completeness, especially when combining several map features.
