Student answer (Band 5.5)
The maps illustrates the changes in road link to a town hospital in 2007 and 2010.
Overall, the maps reveals that before development city hospital did not had any bus station facilities inside the hospital and no more round about nuilt in the hospital in 2007. Nevertheless, after three-years city hospital car park fot staff and public seperates to each other while in 2007 those were joined.
In 2007, ring road covered the city house from all sides and in the south of the hospital there was hospital road linked to the city road which passed through west to east. there was a parking area on both sides of the hospital road which had a way from south-east from the city hospital.
In 2010, two roundabout builds one is connected to city hospital whereas other is on the south of town that is further connected to a city road. Parking areas devided into two seperate buildings, public car park shifted to the east to city hospital and the staff car park is still there. On th eopposite side od staff car park there is a bus station which is connected to both roundabout.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main period of change and include relevant features from both maps, especially the addition of two roundabouts, the replacement of individual bus stops with a bus station, and the separation of parking for staff and the public. The overview also attempts to contrast the two layouts. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: in 2007 the car park was on the east side of Hospital Road, not on both sides, and in 2010 the public car park was east of Ring Road rather than simply east of the hospital. The claim that a roundabout is connected to the hospital is also imprecise; it is at the Ring Road–Hospital Road junction. Report the key locations more precisely and make the overall changes clearer.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for 2007 and 2010. This gives the reader a basic chronological route through the maps, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Nevertheless,” and “In 2010” help signal the stages. However, some connections are awkward or unclear, particularly “before development city hospital did not had…” and “Parking areas devided into two seperate buildings,” where the relationship between the original and new arrangements is difficult to follow. The 2007 paragraph also combines several locations without clearly distinguishing them. Use more precise referencing and organise each paragraph around the road layout, transport facilities, and parking changes.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant map vocabulary, including “ring road,” “bus station,” “car park,” “connected,” and “shifted,” so the reader can identify the main features being described. There is also some attempt to vary wording, for example “covered” and “linked.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or imprecise: “road link” is less natural than “road access,” “covered the city house” does not describe the hospital’s position clearly, and “parking areas” obscures the distinction between the two car parks. Spelling errors such as “seperates,” “devided,” and “round about” are noticeable. Build a more accurate set of map-description phrases and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “while” and a relative clause in “which is connected to both roundabout.” This shows some range, and the main sequence of changes is generally understandable. However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction recur. For example, “The maps illustrates” should use a plural verb, “did not had” should be “did not have,” and “two roundabout builds” needs a passive form such as “two roundabouts were built.” Some sentences also lack clear punctuation or complete grammatical structure, as in “there was a parking area on both sides…” followed by an unclear description of access. Practise accurate past-tense and passive constructions for describing changes.
