Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the broad change from the shared car park and bus stops in 2007 to separate parking and a bus station in 2010, and you note that the hospital itself stayed in the same location. However, the overview is unclear (“completely has been transformed”) and the account only partially reports the main map changes. In particular, the two roundabouts on Hospital Road, the bus station’s access links, and the new public car park east of Ring Road are not accurately or fully described. The claim that a roundabout was added “in place of” the bus stops is misleading: the stops were removed and roundabouts were added at the road junctions. The response is also one word below the required minimum. Select the key changes and describe their locations precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an attempted overview, and two detail paragraphs. It also uses a few linking expressions, such as “Overall,” “In 2010,” and “Other prominent features.” However, progression is difficult to follow because several sentences combine unrelated points or repeat information. For example, the paragraph beginning “In 2010 maps” moves from the hospital’s unchanged location to parking and then to a confusing comparison of roundabouts and bus stops. Referencing is also unclear in phrases such as “in place of roundabout.” Organise the report by first giving a clear overview, then grouping changes by transport access and parking, using explicit comparisons between the two years.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “public car park,” “staff car park,” “bus station,” and “roundabout,” so the reader can identify the main features being discussed. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear, such as “changes to the information,” “hospital location place,” and “nearby the hospital.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “Evereyone” and “availavle,” and repeated use of “maps” and “place.” Use precise map language such as “located,” “situated to the east of,” “was replaced by,” and “provided access to.” Check spelling and choose natural collocations to make comparisons easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt a range of sentence forms, including a comparison with “According to maps in 2007” and a cause-and-effect sentence beginning “Due to this.” However, many sentences contain frequent grammatical errors that make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “the hospital has been completely has been transformed” repeats the auxiliary and has faulty structure, while “public car park and staff car park placed in same location” lacks a finite verb and necessary articles. Subject–verb agreement is also problematic in “Other prominent features is.” Punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, particularly around commas. Build accurate simple sentences first, then add comparisons using controlled forms such as “In 2007…, whereas in 2010…”.
