Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main period of change and include relevant features such as the bus station, car parks, roundabouts and the unchanged Ring Road. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the 2010 public car park is on the east side of the Ring Road, not “beneath the city hospital,” and the 2007 car park is described as taking up most of the area without support from the map. The overview also says there are two car parks but does not clearly distinguish the new public car park from the existing staff car park. To strengthen the report, compare the layouts precisely and explain that the bus stops were replaced by a bus station, while the former shared car park became staff-only and a separate public car park was added.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for 2007 and 2010. This helps the reader follow the time sequence. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and several ideas are joined in long, difficult sentences. For example, the final sentence combines the bus station, both car parks, the roundabouts and the Ring Road with little punctuation or clear separation. Linking words such as “In addition,” “While,” and “furthermore” are used, but some connections are awkward or do not clearly show the relationship between features. Organise each year’s details in a consistent order—roads, transport facilities, then parking—and use shorter sentences with clear references.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “Ring Road,” “hospital road,” “bus station,” “car park” and “roundabout,” so the reader can identify many of the features. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the description difficult to interpret, such as “parkin a car area,” “separate aera,” “bus staps” and “satff car park.” Phrases such as “car park had took most of the area” are also imprecise for describing a map. Aim for accurate, consistent labels and standard map language, for example “the existing car park,” “to the east of,” and “was converted into a staff car park.” Proofreading spelling would make your meaning clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

There are attempts to use both simple and more extended sentences, but errors in sentence structure and basic forms are frequent and sometimes make relationships between features unclear. Examples include “many changes occur … like for parkin a car area has been increase,” “There is two bus staps,” and “around five changes has made.” These show problems with agreement, verb forms and sentence construction. Some clauses are also joined without clear punctuation, particularly in the final paragraph, making it hard to see where one idea ends and another begins. Practise accurate simple past forms for the 2007–2010 changes, subject–verb agreement, and complete sentences before adding linking clauses. Clear, controlled sentences will improve accuracy and readability.
