Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main changes: the shared car park becomes separate staff and public facilities, the bus stops are replaced by a bus station, and roundabouts are added. The overview also gives the reader a useful sense of the overall redevelopment. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the 2010 map shows two roundabouts, not three, and the 2007 bus stops were positioned on both sides of Hospital Road rather than simply east of the hospital. The new public car park is east of Ring Road, not just “on the right of the hospital.” Your response covers the task and includes relevant comparisons, but more precise location descriptions and a fuller account of the changes would make it more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and paragraphs describing the two maps. Sequencing from 2007 to 2010 is generally easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “However” and “In addition” help signal relationships. At times, though, connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Moreover, initially bus stop was far away now its on the left side” does not clearly explain what changed, while the long final sentence combines the bus station and parking changes without a clear break. Paragraphing the detailed comparisons more deliberately and using clearer references to each location would improve progression and cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant map vocabulary, including “junction,” “parking space,” “bus station” and “connecting,” so the reader can understand the general changes. There is also some attempt to vary wording, such as “development” and “established.” However, several choices are imprecise or repetitive: “development of three roundabouts” misstates the number and is an awkward collocation, while “park space” is not the natural term for a car park. Spelling and word-form slips such as “shariing” and “alotted” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise location and change vocabulary, and check spelling and collocations when describing map features.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “while” and a relative clause in “where one was developed on the junction…”. Meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in sentence structure and basic grammar are noticeable. Examples include “The two maps illustrates,” where subject and verb do not agree, and “before staff and public share the same parking but after the change there are separate parking spaces,” which has inconsistent tense and an incomplete contrast structure. Missing articles and punctuation also appear in “there was bus stop” and “roundabouts.whereas.” Use past tense consistently for the maps, check singular/plural agreement, and divide long sentences into controlled clauses.
