Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main transformation: the bus stops were replaced by a bus station, and the car park was divided into staff and public facilities. You also mention the two roundabouts and the new public car park, so the response covers the key changes. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear. In 2007, the hospital was bordered by the Ring Road on its north, west and east sides, rather than simply “surrounded” by it, and the shared car park was east of Hospital Road, not “in front of the hospital entrance.” The roundabouts are at the Ring Road and City Road junctions; the description that one “got through” a road and the other “crossed” it obscures this. A more precise overview and clearer location details would strengthen the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate descriptions of the two years. This gives the reader a basic progression from the original layout to the changes. Linking expressions such as “To begin with,” “Regarding,” and “Furthermore” help signal shifts, although some feel mechanical or do not connect the information precisely. The final sentence, “Both, give branches to the new erected bus station,” is difficult to follow and leaves the relationship between the roundabouts and bus station unclear. Grouping the changes by location or by feature, and using clearer references such as “the northern roundabout” and “the southern roundabout,” would make the connections easier to track.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a reasonable range of map-related vocabulary, including “layouts,” “modifications,” “roundabouts,” “entrance,” and “car park.” These choices show an attempt to describe changes rather than merely list labels. However, several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “possessed” for the road layout, “in front of” for the car park’s position, and “got through” or “crossed” to describe the roundabouts’ locations. There are also spelling and form errors, including “stuff” for “staff” and “erected” in “new erected bus station.” More precise location phrases—such as “at the junction of” and “to the east of”—would improve clarity and control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of sentence forms, including a complex comparison with “whereas” and a sentence beginning “Furthermore,” which gives the report some structural variety. The main meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “including bus station, bus and car parks” needs clearer article and number choices, while “a new entrance … has been added with new a corresponding car park” has awkward word order. The sentence about the roundabouts also has unclear clause structure, and capitalisation after commas is inconsistent (“A new,” “First”). Aim for more controlled noun phrases and sentence boundaries, and check articles, word order, and punctuation when editing.
