Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the two years and attempt to describe changes to parking, bus facilities and road access, so the response is relevant to the maps. However, the overview is inaccurate: it says the hospital “add bus stop,” whereas the individual bus stops were removed and replaced by a bus station. Several details are also unclear or incorrect. For example, the 2007 car park served both staff and the public; it was not a staff-only facility outside the hospital, and the 2010 bus station was west of Hospital Road, not “south west around roundabout.” You do mention the new roundabouts and the public car park moving east, but the main changes need to be selected and reported more accurately and clearly to fully address the task.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic sequence, beginning with an overview and then moving into details about the earlier and later maps. Paragraph breaks also provide some separation. However, the progression is difficult to follow because several sentences combine multiple changes without clear relationships, such as the long sentence beginning “To begin with, in 2007 and 2010.” References such as “it” and “the roundabout” are not always clear, and the repeated use of “in 2007” interrupts the comparison. The final paragraph introduces further details without linking them clearly to the earlier account. Organise the body around connected comparisons—for example, road access, bus facilities, and car parks—and use clear time references to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “car park,” “bus stop,” “roundabout,” and “Hospital Road,” which helps identify the map features. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning difficult to understand. Phrases such as “pictorial representation,” “seperated the public car park location,” and “the road attach with roundabout” are unnatural or imprecise. There are also spelling errors, including “seperated” and “round about.” Aim for precise map language and use verbs such as “was replaced by,” “was located,” and “provided access to.” This would make the comparisons clearer and reduce repetition of “location” and “attach.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, but control is inconsistent, and errors frequently make relationships between features hard to interpret. Examples include “the city hospital add bus stop,” “the bus stop was in 2007 is outside,” and “the city road build new round about,” where tense and verb forms are not controlled. Sentence structure is also faulty in “the city hospital was seperated the public car park location,” which lacks a clear grammatical relationship between the hospital and the car park. Articles, prepositions and agreement also need attention. Practise writing short, accurate comparisons first, such as “In 2010, the bus stops were replaced by a bus station,” then combine ideas only when the sentence remains clear.
