Student answer (Band 5.0)
The two maps illusrtate the changes in the route access to a city hospital in 2007 and 2010.
Overall, the diagrams show that there were so many new thing added to the road access to a city hospital in 2007 and 2010, they added a bus station closer than it was at first, and two roundabout to facilate it more and reduce the traffic jamp.
There were too many changes in the route access to a city hospital in 2007 and 2010, In 2007 it was more simple architactly however it was no facilities to the patients of the hospital, between of the interance of the ring road in the south of the hospital and the city road there was only a caf park for both of public and staff, and so many bus stops in the hospital rd.
In 2010, they add a second interance to the ring road in the east of the road so that the public park thier cars in the new park right there and separte the public from the staff in the parks. Furthermore, they add in centre of the ring road from the south 2 roundabout one after one in the hospital rd and a bus station in thier west side with an access to the 2 roundabout, in thier left the staff car park.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main transformation: the bus stops are replaced by a bus station, parking is separated for staff and the public, and two roundabouts are added. This gives the response a relevant overview and covers the key changes. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: the public car park is on the east side of the Ring Road, not simply “in the new park right there,” and the maps show a new access from the Ring Road rather than a “second entrance” to it. The claim that the changes were intended to “reduce the traffic jam” is not shown by the maps. Develop the comparison more precisely, including that the bus station is west of Hospital Road and the former bus stops disappear.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an opening, an overall statement, and separate descriptions of the two years. Time markers such as “In 2007” and “In 2010” help the reader follow the comparison. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the overview combines several points in one long sentence, and the final paragraph strings together changes with repeated “and” and “Furthermore.” Some references, including “it,” “there,” and “their,” are difficult to connect to a specific feature. Organise the details into clearer groups—for example, road layout and bus facilities, then parking—and use more precise linking and referencing to make the sequence easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “Ring Road,” “bus station,” “roundabout,” and “staff car park,” so the reader can identify several features. However, the range is often basic or imprecise, and spelling and word-form errors are frequent: “illusrtrate,” “facilate,” “architactly,” and “separte” make the description less clear and less controlled. Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “route access” and “park their cars in the new park.” Choose standard terms such as “road access,” “layout,” and “car park,” and check spelling carefully. More precise verbs such as “replaced,” “designated,” and “connected” would help describe the changes without relying repeatedly on “add.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a comparison introduced by “however” and a result clause beginning “so that.” This shows some range, but errors in sentence construction and punctuation often make relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “Overall, the diagrams show that there were so many new thing added …, they added” joins clauses incorrectly, while “In 2010, they add” shifts to the present tense when describing a past map. There are also problems with articles, plurals, and agreement, as in “two roundabout” and “there was only a caf park.” Use past-tense forms consistently, separate complete ideas with full stops, and check subject–verb agreement and singular/plural forms.
