Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the two years and note that the hospital itself stayed unchanged, which is a relevant overall observation. You also mention several genuine changes, including the bus station and separate staff and public parking. However, the response only minimally covers the maps: it does not explain the new roundabouts at both ends of Hospital Road, the removal of the individual bus stops, or the public car park’s position east of Ring Road. Some details are inaccurate or unclear: the public car park was not relocated beside the north of the hospital, and the roundabout is not described as being on City Road alone. The response is also 69 words below the required minimum, leaving the main features substantially underdeveloped. Include a fuller overview and describe the key changes precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening statement, an overview beginning with “Overall,” and a final paragraph introducing details with “To begin with.” This gives the reader some sense of structure. However, the progression within the final paragraph is difficult to follow, as the changes to the road, bus stops, and car parks are compressed into one sequence without clear relationships. The phrase “Bus stop in left and right of hospital changed” is also an unclear reference, and the paragraph does not distinguish the 2007 layout from the 2010 one consistently. Use separate, logically ordered sentences to compare the road access, bus facilities, and parking, and use clear references such as “by 2010” and “the former shared car park.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “layout,” “bus station,” “staff car park,” and “public car park,” so the reader can recognise the general subject. However, the range is limited and several expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “represents way to city hospital,” “round about developed in four-way road,” and “public car park relocated beside north.” These choices make important spatial changes hard to understand. “Rebuilt” is also not the best verb for describing bus stops being replaced by a bus station. Aim for precise verbs and location phrases commonly used to describe maps, such as “was converted into,” “was added to the east of,” and “at the junction of.” Check spelling and spacing in compounds such as “roundabout.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response includes a few simple sentence forms and attempts an overview, for example, “Overall, city hospital remains unchanged.” However, grammatical control is uneven, and errors sometimes make the intended relationships unclear. In “The diagram represents way to city hospital,” the article and sentence structure are incomplete; “city hospital remains unchanged” also needs an article or a proper-name form. The final sentence contains a fragment-like sequence—“a round about developed in four-way road, way to hospital road, bus station”—rather than a clear clause explaining what changed. There is little variety in sentence structure, and punctuation and spacing are inconsistent. Build complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use past passive forms such as “A bus station was built” to report changes between the maps.
