Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the two years and attempt to describe changes, including the addition of a bus station and the separation of the car parks. However, several key details are inaccurate or unclear: the public car park was added east of Ring Road, while the existing car park became staff-only; the bus stops were replaced by a bus station, and roundabouts were added at both ends of Hospital Road. The overview does not clearly summarise these main changes, and claims such as the hospital being “undevelopment” or having “all facilities” do not describe the map accurately. The response is also one word below the required 150-word minimum. Select the main changes precisely and explain their locations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response has separate opening, 2007 and 2010 paragraphs, so there is an attempt to organise information by time. However, the progression within these paragraphs is difficult to follow because several details are combined without clear relationships. For example, “In 2007, city hospital was undevelopment than there was ring rode…” does not make the connection between the hospital, Ring Road and Hospital Road clear. Linking words such as “wheares,” “plus” and “than” are either inaccurate or do not show the intended comparison. Group the changes logically—for example, road layout, transport facilities and parking—and use straightforward links such as “whereas,” “by contrast” and “in addition” accurately.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “Ring Road,” “Hospital Rd,” “bus station” and “car park,” which helps identify the topic. However, the range is basic and many word-choice, collocation and spelling problems make the description hard to understand. Phrases such as “huge transformation,” “all fecilities with devloped” and “added by” are not natural ways to describe changes on a map. There are also repeated misspellings, including “wheares,” “sourthen” and “rode.” Build a reliable set of terms for map changes, such as “was converted into,” “was replaced by,” “was constructed” and “was located to the east of,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts longer sentences and uses past-tense forms, but grammatical control is weak and errors frequently obscure the relationships between features. For instance, “there was added by bus station” has an incorrect passive construction, while “city hospital was undevelopment than there was ring rode” does not form a clear grammatical comparison. Articles and prepositions are also often missing or incorrectly used, as in “in ring road was added by northen side.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation need attention too; the opening contains a doubled comma after “station.” Practise accurate simple past and passive forms, such as “A bus station was added,” before combining ideas into longer sentences.
