Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the period and mention several relevant changes, including the separation of staff and public parking and the addition of a bus station. However, the response reports only a small part of the maps and does not give a clear overview of the main changes. Some details are inaccurate: the bus stops were on both sides of Hospital Road, not on its eastern side alone, and the bus station was relocated to the west side of the road, not to the “down side” of the hospital. The new roundabouts and the public car park’s access from Ring Road are also omitted. The response is 84 words, below the required 150, so the task is addressed only minimally. Include a fuller, accurate comparison of both maps.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the maps, gives a general statement about development, and then describes changes. This provides some organisation, but the ideas are compressed into one main paragraph and the progression between features is not clear. “Commence with” does not establish a useful sequence, while “respectively” is unclear because no corresponding pair of items is being compared. The final sentence combines the bus-stop removal, roundabout construction and bus-station relocation in a way that makes the relationships difficult to follow. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and the main changes, and organise details by location or by comparing 2007 with 2010. Clear links such as “In addition” and “By 2010” would help.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “car parking,” “bus station,” “roundabout” and “relocated,” so the reader can recognise the general subject. However, the range is limited, and several word-choice, collocation and spelling problems reduce precision: “feathers” appears to be intended as “features,” “reserve for staff car parking” is unnatural, and “a seperate car parking” is not an appropriate phrase. “Down side” is also vague for describing a map location. Aim for accurate terms such as “designated for staff,” “a separate public car park,” and “to the west of Hospital Road.” Proofread spelling carefully, as errors such as “illustartes,” “annd” and “addded” are noticeable.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts a few sentence forms, including a general opening and a sentence contrasting the original and later parking arrangements. However, grammatical control is uneven, and several errors make the relationships between ideas harder to understand. For example, “The maps illustartes” has subject–verb disagreement, and “between 2007 to 2010” uses an incorrect preposition pattern. The fragment “Commence with” does not form a complete sentence, while “some existing feathers annd some new facilities been addded” lacks a correctly formed verb phrase. In “that was initially for both public and staff,” the article and structure are also problematic. Practise complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check tense and agreement when describing changes over time.
