Student answer (Band 5.0)

The city hospital in 2007 map ilustrate that the hosiptal building was surronded by the main ring road and the entrence road has 6 bus stops on both side. The vechile parking area for the staff and public is on the north east of the road side as compared to the parking area for staff was on the north east side of the building in 2010.

Overall, the devolpment in between 2007 and 2010 of the hosiptal building was to seprate the staff and public vechile parking area and to builad a proper bus station instead bus points.

Firstly the main building in 2007 has almost 6 bus stops for patients and staff on the main entrance road sides along with a side parking area for all vechile.

On the other hand in 2010, the city hospital has proper bus station as compared to 2007 and has different parking areas for both staff and public vechile.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main changes: the bus stops were replaced by a bus station, and parking was divided for staff and the public. Your overview captures these broad developments, so the response is relevant to the task. However, several details are inaccurate or unclear. In 2007, the shared car park was east of Hospital Road, not clearly “north east” of it; in 2010, the staff car park remained east of Hospital Road, while the new public car park was east of Ring Road. The bus station’s position and the two roundabouts are also omitted. Develop the comparison with these specific locations and describe the road-access changes more precisely to make the account more complete and clear.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic structure, moving from the 2007 arrangement to an overview and then a comparison with 2010. Phrases such as “Overall” and “On the other hand” help signal the intended relationships between ideas. However, progression is limited because the same changes are repeated in the opening, overview and final paragraph, while the information is not grouped systematically by feature or location. The first sentence also combines several details, making the comparison difficult to follow. Organise the report into a clear introduction, overview and two focused detail sections, and use references such as “the former shared car park” to avoid repetition and clarify what each sentence refers to.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “ring road,” “bus stops,” “parking area” and “bus station,” and you attempt more specific terms such as “separate.” However, the range is limited and several spelling errors make the report less clear, including “ilustrate,” “hosiptal,” “surronded,” “entrence” and “vechile.” Some expressions are also imprecise or unnatural: “bus points” is not an appropriate description of the marked stops, and “proper bus station” adds an unsupported judgement. Use accurate map vocabulary and check spelling carefully. More precise phrases such as “individual bus stops,” “designated staff car park” and “direct access from Ring Road” would make the description clearer and more formal.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a comparison with “as compared to” and a contrast introduced by “On the other hand.” However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between features hard to understand. For example, “the entrence road has 6 bus stops on both side” has problems with tense, number agreement and sentence construction; “the parking area for staff and public is … as compared to the parking area for staff was” also mixes verb forms and creates an unclear comparison. Articles, plurals and punctuation need more consistent control. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine related details using accurate past-tense forms and clear comparative structures.
