Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad change from the 2007 layout to the redeveloped 2010 arrangement, and you mention the new public car park and the separation of parking provision. However, several key details are inaccurate or missing, which makes the account only partially complete. In 2007, the shared car park was east of Hospital Road, not on both its right and left sides, and there were multiple bus stops on both sides of the road rather than one stop east of the hospital. In 2010, the bus stops were replaced by a bus station; it was not a former bus station moved from the east. Your overview also misses the two roundabouts and the new public car park’s access from Ring Road. Select these main changes and describe their locations precisely to make the summary clearer and more fully grounded in the maps.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall sequence: an introduction and overview are followed by separate paragraphs for 2007 and 2010. This makes the comparison easy to follow, and transitions such as “In 2007” and “In 2010” provide useful signposting. The overview also signals that redevelopment occurred, giving the response a recognisable progression. To make the organisation more effective, group related changes and use references more precisely. For example, “Former bus station” is unclear because the 2007 map shows individual bus stops, not a station, while “it” in “remain it original position” has an unclear grammatical reference. A more systematic comparison of road changes, bus facilities and car parks would strengthen the progression and reduce the need for the reader to infer connections.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “layout,” “redevelopment,” “round junction,” and “car park,” and you attempt to describe location with phrases such as “east side” and “near the right side.” However, the range and precision are limited, and several word choices or collocations make the meaning inaccurate or awkward. “Rectangular round” does not clearly describe the Ring Road, and “reposition of few places” is not a natural way to report changes. “Bus station” is also used for the 2007 bus stops, changing the meaning of the map. Spelling errors such as “rennovation” further reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of terms for map features and movement, and check collocations and spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including the contrast introduced by “while” and the clause beginning “Although.” However, errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to interpret. For example, “Both map illustrates” has a plural subject with a singular verb, while “layout … was contain” combines incompatible verb forms. Articles and sentence structure are also problematic in “a city hospital was experienced major redevelopment.” In “Although staff car park remain it original position,” the verb form and possessive are incorrect. These patterns show that complex structures are being attempted but are not yet controlled consistently. Focus first on accurate basic clauses, subject–verb agreement, articles and past-tense forms, then add subordinate clauses once the main sentence is secure.
