Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the two years and report several relevant changes, including the separation of staff and public parking and the introduction of a bus station and roundabouts. However, the overview is unclear (“in advance no separate car parking”) and some key details are incomplete or inaccurate: the 2007 ring road surrounded the hospital on its north, west and east sides, and the 2010 public car park was east of the Ring Road, not simply outside the hospital. The staff car park’s continued location is also not clearly described. The response contains 149 words, one word below the required minimum, and 10 words copied from the prompt are excluded. Develop a clearer overview and report the main layout changes more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic, useful structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for 2007 and 2010. This helps the reader follow the comparison, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Furthermore” show an attempt to connect points. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and some links do not express a complete idea—for example, “Moreover, the roundabout connected to the bus station” is vague about which roundabout and how the connection works. The 2010 paragraph also moves between parking and the bus station without clearly distinguishing the changes. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each feature to its location and year; avoid relying on repeated “Furthermore” and “Firstly.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant map vocabulary, including “ring road,” “bus stops,” “car parks,” and “roundabouts,” so the main subject is generally understandable. There is also some attempt to describe change through “installed” and “separate.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “car parking was installed,” “separate build,” and “connected with two roundabouts.” “In advance” does not convey the intended contrast between the years, and “seprately” is misspelled. These choices sometimes make the description less precise. Build a bank of natural map phrases such as “was introduced,” “was located to the east of,” and “was linked to,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the time references to 2007 and 2010 give the description a basic framework. However, sentence structures are limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some statements awkward or unclear. For example, “Overall, in this maps show” has faulty sentence construction and agreement, while “In 2010, numerous changes around the city hospital” is a sentence fragment. There are also problems with articles, plurals and prepositions, as in “on each sides” and “on the east area.” Practise complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and article use. For example: “In 2010, numerous changes were made around the city hospital.”
