Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several important changes: the shared car park became staff-only, a separate public car park was added, the bus stops were replaced by a bus station, and two roundabouts were introduced. These details show a reasonable understanding of the maps. However, the overview is unclear: “The map of city Hospital have not changed” and “Just remapped parking, bus station” do not clearly summarise the main transformation. The hospital and Ring Road largely remain, but the access arrangements change substantially. Some details are also inaccurate or confusing: the public car park is east of the Ring Road, not beside the hospital, and the bus station is west of Hospital Road. Explain the changes more precisely and compare the two years consistently.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response includes relevant points, but the sequence is difficult to follow and the ideas are not arranged into a clear report. The opening repeats that the maps cover three years, then the short statements about the hospital and Ring Road are followed by a long, loosely connected sentence beginning “The following restructured”. The final comments, “Just remapped parking, bus station” and “In three years, traffic handled for parking almost,” do not provide a clear conclusion. Organise the response into an introduction, an overview of the main changes, and a paragraph comparing specific features. Use clear links such as “By 2010” and “In contrast,” and make sure each sentence develops one point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “public car park,” “staff parking,” “bus station,” “roundabout,” and “Ring Road,” so the reader can recognise the main features being described. However, the range is limited, and several phrases are imprecise or unnatural, such as “The following restructured,” “opposite of first one,” and “traffic handled for parking almost.” These choices make some relationships between features difficult to understand. Aim for precise map-description language and accurate collocations, for example, describing a facility as “was added” or “was converted into,” and saying that a road “connects” two locations. Avoid repeating “parking” when a more specific label is available.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts some longer sentences, particularly the sentence beginning “From Bus stop to establish Bus station,” but these are often incomplete or difficult to interpret. There are recurring problems with verb forms and agreement: “The map … have not changed” should use a singular verb, while “There also built two roundabout” needs a complete passive construction and a plural noun. Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “The difference is 3 years from 2007 to 2010 .” Most sentences rely on simple structures, and the attempted complex sentence about the roundabouts becomes confusing. Practise complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use past passive forms to describe changes made by 2010.
