Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main changes between the maps: the bus stops are replaced by a bus station, the shared car park becomes staff-only, a public car park is added, and two roundabouts are introduced. Your overview also recognises that access arrangements changed. These points address the task, and the locations are generally reported accurately. However, some details are unclear or imprecise: the 2007 car park is described as being in the “eastern-south corner,” and the 2010 bus station as in the “western-south corner,” rather than clearly locating them relative to Hospital Road. The statement that the ring road “combine[s] the all other roads together” is also not supported by the map. More precise descriptions of the connections and the removal of the individual bus stops would make the account more complete and developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for 2007 and 2010. This makes the chronological comparison easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In 2007,” and “In 2010” help signal the stages. The progression is generally coherent, but some connections between ideas are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Whereas there was many bus stops” does not form a clear contrast with the car-park detail, and “Meanwhile” introduces the bus station without a strong relationship to the preceding roundabout information. Improve cohesion by grouping related changes—for example, transport access together and car-park changes together—and use clearer references to locations and features.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant map vocabulary, including “roundabout,” “ring road,” “bus station,” and “public car park,” so the reader can identify the main features. There is also some attempt to vary wording, such as “built,” “attached,” and “combined.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable, including “illustrarte,” “accessment,” “acees,” and “evryone.” Some phrases are not natural or precise for describing maps: “road accessment,” “rounded by ring road,” and “at the start and edge of hospital road” make the intended meaning harder to grasp. Aim for standard collocations such as “road access,” “surrounded by,” and “at either end of Hospital Road.” Accurate spelling and more precise location language would strengthen this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including clauses introduced by “whereas” and “that,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors occur in basic sentence patterns as well as longer constructions. Examples include “two roundabout was built,” which needs plural agreement, and “there was many bus stops,” which requires “there were.” Articles and sentence boundaries are also problematic in phrases such as “a a significant changing” and in the run-on punctuation around “Overall” and “In 2010.” Work on subject–verb agreement, articles, plural forms, and separating complete sentences. More accurate control of these basics would make your attempted complex sentences clearer.
