Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the two years and attempt to compare changes, including the car park becoming staff-only and the appearance of a roundabout. However, the account is only minimally informative: it misplaces or confuses features, saying there was a bus stop on the east and west sides rather than describing the bus stops along Hospital Road, and it does not report the new public car park or bus station, or the removal of the individual stops. The overview is unclear and does not summarise the main changes accurately. The response is also 145 words, below the required 150; the 10 words copied from the prompt are excluded from this count. To improve, select the major changes and describe their locations precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening sentence, an overview, and two body paragraphs introduced by “To begin with” and “Secondaly.” This gives the reader some indication of sequence. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the paragraphs do not group the map changes clearly, and several ideas are repeated or left incomplete. For example, “the time of decade consistantly” does not establish a clear comparison, while the second paragraph shifts between bus stops and car parks without a logical link. Use a clear overview followed by a paragraph on road and transport changes and another on parking, with accurate references such as “in 2007” and “by 2010.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary includes some relevant map terms, such as “road access,” “roundabout,” “Bus stop,” and “Staff car park,” so the topic is recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear. Phrases such as “changed a lot of things,” “the time of decade,” and “the hospital start” are not suitable ways to describe map developments. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “aso,” “peroides,” and “Secondaly.” Aim for precise verbs and location language: for example, say that bus stops were replaced by a bus station, or that a public car park was added east of the Ring Road. Check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, including a contrast with “but” and a time comparison using “in 2007” and “in 2010.” However, the longer structures are often faulty, and frequent errors make relationships between features hard to understand. For instance, “the hospital maps demonstrate about the road access … changed” lacks a workable clause structure, while “there was a Bus stop came to west side” combines incompatible verb patterns. Articles, prepositions, and sentence boundaries are also inconsistently controlled, as in “in city hospital the east side of hospital.” Build accurate short sentences first, then connect them with “whereas” or “by 2010”; check verb forms and punctuation.
