Student answer (Band 5.5)
The maps illustrate that the road enterence towards City hospital in 2007 and 2010.
Overall, it can be seen that the enterence of city hospital had been changed considerably. Alot of amenities had been installed for the comfort of the public. Although few things had not changed or replaced.
To begin with 2007, as we can see the pathway towards city hopital was quit simple. The city hospital was sourrended by Ring Road. The car park was situated in the south-side of the hospital that was attached with Hospitral Road. On the west of the map we can see the the Bus stop.
In 2010, alot of changes we can see. Bus station had been changed and is attached with Hospital road in the south-west corner of the hospital. There were two Roundabout in front of the City Hospital. Staff car parking had been remains same but Public car paking was changed and it was located in the east-side of the hospital

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main change over time and report several relevant features, including the replacement of the bus stops by a bus station, the two roundabouts, and the distinction between staff and public parking. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: in 2007 the shared car park was east of Hospital Road, not south of the hospital, and in 2010 the public car park was on the east side of Ring Road rather than simply on the east side of the hospital. The overview that amenities were added “for the comfort of the public” is an unsupported interpretation; focus instead on the physical changes. The account also omits the new public car park’s direct access from Ring Road and does not clearly describe the road connections, so coverage is relevant but unevenly developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for 2007 and 2010. This makes the basic time comparison easy to follow, and phrases such as “To begin with 2007” and “In 2010” help signal progression. However, the overview is vague, and the final paragraph ends without a concluding comparison or a clear account of how access changed. Some links are mechanical or awkward, as in “Although few things had not changed or replaced,” which does not connect clearly to the preceding sentence. Improve cohesion by grouping related changes—road layout, bus access, and parking—and using precise references such as “the former shared car park” and “the new public car park.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “Ring Road,” “Hospital Road,” “Bus station,” “Staff car parking,” and “Roundabout,” so the reader can identify the main map features. However, the range is limited and several word-choice or spelling problems reduce precision: “road enterence” is not a natural description, “pathway” is less suitable than “road access,” and “car paking” is misspelled. Repetition of “changed” and “alot of changes” also makes the description imprecise. Use map-specific terms consistently, such as “located,” “connected,” “replaced,” and “direct access,” and check spelling of key labels. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish the changes from features that remained in place.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response includes simple statements and attempts some more complex forms, such as “Although few things had not changed or replaced.” However, control is uneven, and several sentence patterns are incomplete or incorrectly formed. For example, “Staff car parking had been remains same” combines incompatible verb forms; “Bus station had been changed and is attached” shifts tense and does not clearly express the change; and “There were two Roundabout” has a plural agreement error. Articles and sentence construction also need attention in “The maps illustrate that the road enterence towards City hospital in 2007 and 2010.” Use the past simple consistently to describe the maps, and practise accurate clauses such as “The bus stops were replaced by a bus station.”
