Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main transformation: the addition of two roundabouts, the replacement of the bus stops by a bus station, and the separation of staff and public parking. Your overview also correctly notes that the principal roads remain, and the comparison between the 2007 and 2010 parking arrangements is relevant. However, some details are incomplete or unclear. For example, the bus station is west of Hospital Road and connects to both ends of it; saying only that a path leads towards it does not fully describe this change. The new public car park is specifically east of Ring Road, not simply east of the hospital. Develop these locations more precisely and avoid repeating the roundabouts as the key change at the end.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate descriptions of the two years. This helps the reader follow the comparison, and time markers such as “In 2007” and “In 2010” are useful. However, progression is weakened by the repeated emphasis on roundabouts in both the 2010 paragraph and the final sentence. Some references are also vague, particularly “From these two roundabouts one path leads toward the bus station,” which does not clearly explain the station’s connections. Grouping related changes—road layout, bus facilities, and parking—more systematically, and using clearer links between the years, would make the account more cohesive and less repetitive.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant map vocabulary, including “roundabouts,” “bus station,” “car parking,” and “main roads,” so the reader can understand the broad changes. There are also attempts at descriptive phrasing, such as “addition” and “shifted.” However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural expressions are noticeable, including “dispalying,” “spots,” “completely new look,” and “leads toward.” “Transformed into a completely new look” is especially vague for an objective map report. Use precise location language and standard collocations, such as “was located to the west of” or “was replaced by.” More accurate spelling and less conversational wording would improve clarity and control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including “Overall if we notice that…” and the sentence describing the road leading from the hospital to City Road. However, several sentence structures are faulty or incomplete. “The given picture … displaying us that how…” has an incorrect clause structure, while “Overall if we notice that…” does not form a complete sentence. There are also errors in articles, agreement, and verb forms, as in “Staff car parking remain” and “Two roundabouts were added on the both sides.” Punctuation around introductory phrases is inconsistent. Aim first for complete, controlled sentences, then add complex clauses using accurate forms such as “The staff car park remained…” and “Two roundabouts were added at either end of Hospital Road.”
