Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You identify the broad topic and mention two genuine changes: the addition of roundabouts and a bus station, and the separation of public and staff parking. However, the response is far too brief to summarise the maps adequately, and the overview is not fully accurate: the road itself was not reconstructed, and the public car park is newly located east of Ring Road rather than simply separated from staff parking. Most key details are omitted, including the removal of the bus stops, the bus station’s position west of Hospital Road, and the two car parks’ access arrangements. Develop a clear overview and report the main changes with accurate locations and comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic progression: it introduces the comparison and then gives an overall statement about the changes. The linking phrases “Overall” and “In addition to that” help signal this structure. However, there is no detailed body paragraph, so the information does not progress beyond a brief overview, and the relationship between the changes is not clearly explained. For example, the roundabouts, bus station and parking changes are compressed into one sentence. Organise the response into an introduction, an overview, and one or two paragraphs describing the 2007 and 2010 features, using clear references such as “the former bus stops” and “the new public car park.”

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “infrastructure,” “roundabouts,” “bus station,” and “staff parking,” which makes the subject recognisable. However, the range is narrow because the response is very short, and several choices or forms are inaccurate: “by reconstructing of road” is not a natural expression, “saperated” is misspelled, and “public car park are” has an incorrect form. The phrase “to facilitate the visitors” is also incomplete in meaning and does not clearly describe a map feature. Use precise terms for locations and changes, such as “was converted into,” “to the west of Hospital Road,” and “a separate public car park,” while checking spelling and collocation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response includes a simple introductory sentence and a longer sentence with linking phrases, showing an attempt to vary sentence structure. However, grammatical control is uneven. In “The layout compares road access to city hospital in 2007 to how it changes by 2010,” the comparison structure is awkward; “compares … in 2007 with … in 2010” would be clearer. The sentence beginning “Overall” also has problems with the construction “by reconstructing of road,” and “public car park are” shows a subject–verb agreement error. The final phrase, “and is to facilitate the visitors,” does not form a complete, clear clause. Practise accurate comparison structures and check agreement and clause completeness.
