Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the two years and report several relevant changes, including the replacement of the bus stops by a bus station, the addition of roundabouts, and the separation of staff and public parking. However, the overview is not sufficiently accurate or clear: describing the 2007 layout as having “huge problems” and claiming the changes avoided “all the traffic problems” adds conclusions that the maps do not establish. Some locations are also misreported. The public car park is accessed directly from Ring Road, not by taking the right side of the southern roundabout, and the bus station is west of Hospital Road. Focus on describing visible changes and their positions, and give a concise overview of the main transformation without speculating about traffic outcomes.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic chronological structure, with separate paragraphs for 2007 and 2010, and the reader can generally follow the comparison. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the 2007 paragraph moves from parking to bus stops and then to an unsupported traffic prediction, while the 2010 paragraph combines several changes with unclear directions. Connectors such as “Whereas,” “However,” and “And then” are sometimes used mechanically or do not express the relationship accurately. References such as “it” and “them” can also be unclear. Organise the details by location or by type of change, and use linking phrases only when they clarify a genuine contrast or sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “bus stops,” “car park,” “roundabout,” and “entrance,” so the main subject is usually understandable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “hospital road” for the road layout, “interesting thing” for a map feature, and “multipe car park.” Spelling errors including “seperated” and “form” also reduce precision. Phrases such as “improved to better” and “huge problems” are vague rather than suitable descriptions of map changes. Build a more precise set of terms for locations and changes, for example “located to the west of,” “was replaced by,” and “was divided into separate car parks.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts some longer sentences and comparisons, but grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships difficult to understand. Examples include “the hospital road had a problems,” “There is 6 stops,” and “They added roundsabout,” which show problems with articles, agreement, and plural forms. Tense use also shifts between past and present when describing the maps, as in “In 2007, city hospital has” and “There is.” Some complex constructions are faulty, particularly “where it can reached by take the right side.” Use the past tense consistently for both maps, check singular and plural agreement, and practise forming clear passive sentences such as “A bus station was added west of Hospital Road.”
