Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the broad comparison that the hospital remains in the same place and that access changes by 2010, including the addition of two roundabouts. However, several key details are inaccurate or unclear: in 2007 the bus stops were along Hospital Road, not a bus station west of the hospital, and in 2010 the bus station is west of Hospital Road rather than south of the hospital. The public car park is east of the Ring Road, while the staff car park remains east of Hospital Road. The response gives little clear overview of these main changes and does not report the removal of the individual bus stops. Select the major changes accurately and describe their locations in relation to the roads and hospital.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response makes an attempt to compare the two years, moving from 2007 to 2010 and then stating a general difference. This gives the reader a basic sense of the topic. However, ideas are not arranged into clear paragraphs or a consistent sequence, and the long run-on sentences make relationships between locations difficult to follow. Phrases such as “when we entered the hospital” and “after enter the hospital” shift into a journey narrative rather than a clear map description. Linking words such as “and,” “when,” and “after” are repeated without showing precise contrasts. Organise the report into an overview and separate descriptions of each map, using clear references such as “by 2010” and “in contrast.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “hospital,” “road,” “parking area,” “bus station,” and “roundabout,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or imprecise, which can make the layout hard to understand. For example, “the parking side is east side and west side of the road” does not clearly identify which car park is where, and “pablic park” appears to mean “public car park.” “Staf car parking area” also needs accurate spelling and a more natural phrase. Use consistent location language and distinguish bus stops from a bus station. More precise terms such as “to the west of Hospital Road” and “directly accessible from Ring Road” would improve clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to connect ideas in longer sentences, but sentence structures are very limited and errors frequently obscure the intended relationships. Examples include “the hospital is the west side of bus station,” “when we entered the hospital we were see,” and “The difference … are located same places.” These show problems with articles, prepositions, verb forms, and subject–verb agreement. Punctuation is also largely absent, producing run-on sentences that are difficult to parse. Use short, complete sentences first, with a clear subject and verb—for example, “The hospital remained in the same location.” Then add controlled comparisons such as “In 2010, two roundabouts were added to Hospital Road.” Check tense consistency and sentence boundaries when editing.
