Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the period and report several genuine changes, including the new public car park, the staff-only car park, the bus station and roundabouts. You also correctly note that the Ring Road remained in the same position. However, the account is only partial: it does not explain that the bus stops were removed, or clearly describe how the bus station connects to Hospital Road. The overview is vague, especially the claim that the map changed “for better response,” and the roundabouts’ locations are not specified. The response is also 12 words below the required minimum. To make the summary more complete, describe the main changes precisely and compare the 2007 and 2010 layouts without adding unsupported evaluations such as “better.”
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has some organisation: it begins with a general statement, then groups changes to parking and traffic, and ends with a concluding comment. This gives the reader a basic sense of the topic. However, progression is not consistently clear, and several links are awkward or repetitive. For example, “Else this in the year of 2010” and “Their also improve the traffic” do not clearly connect the ideas that follow. The final sentence repeats the general evaluation rather than summarising the key changes. Use distinct paragraphs for an overview and the main comparisons, and connect each change directly to its 2007 counterpart so the sequence is easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “Ring Road,” “public car park,” “staff car parks,” “roundabout” and “bus station,” so the reader can identify the main features being discussed. However, the range is limited, and several word choices or collocations make the description difficult to understand, such as “the figure what changed happened,” “better aways,” and “for better response.” There are also spelling and word-form problems, including “facilties” and “parks” where the intended meaning is parking. Aim for precise terms for location and change, such as “to the east of,” “was converted into,” and “was added,” and check spelling and natural combinations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts a few longer sentences, but most structures are simple or incomplete, and errors frequently affect clarity. For instance, “The two maps illustrate the figure what changed happened” has an unclear clause structure, while “in the 2010 the public car park build” lacks an auxiliary and uses an incorrect verb form. Subject–verb agreement and tense are also problematic in “there is also build a bus station” and “he build roundabout.” Articles, plurals and punctuation are inconsistently controlled, as seen in “a separate area for staff car parks.” Practise accurate past-tense passive forms for map changes, such as “A public car park was added,” and build clear sentences with one main idea each before attempting more complex structures.
