Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main changes between the maps: the bus stops were replaced by a bus station, the parking provision was divided into staff and public areas, and two roundabouts were added. Your overview also notes that the main roads remained in place. These points address the task, but some details are unclear or inaccurate. In particular, the public car park did not shift from Hospital Road; the existing shared car park became the staff car park, while a separate public car park was added east of Ring Road. The roundabouts are at the Ring Road and City Road junctions with Hospital Road, not at a single “linking point.” Explain these changes more precisely and make the overall pattern of improved access clearer.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an overview to the 2007 layout and then the 2010 changes. This gives the reader a basic progression, and phrases such as “In 2007” and “In 2010” help signal the time sequence. However, the final paragraph repeats the general purpose of the maps rather than adding useful information, and some links between ideas are awkward or unclear. For example, “Later the development of this area” is a fragment, while “moreover also added the bus station road with it” does not clearly show how the details relate. Group the changes by feature—roads, parking, and bus facilities—and use clear references to distinguish the two car parks.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant map vocabulary, including “ring road,” “bus stops,” “parking area,” “roundabouts,” and “east side,” so the reader can follow the general subject. There are also attempts at more formal wording, such as “illustrate” and “comparatively.” However, several choices are unnatural or imprecise, including “the road that approaches to the city hospital,” “at its east direction,” and “the location bus station also changed.” Repetition of “area,” “road,” and “side” also limits flexibility. Choose precise verbs for map changes and use standard location phrases. This would make the description more natural and help distinguish additions, replacements, and unchanged features.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “the ring road that covered the city hospital” and a time contrast between 2007 and 2010. The main meaning is generally recoverable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. Examples include “the two roundabouts was built,” where the verb should agree with the plural subject, and “Hospital road has six bus stops,” which shifts tense in a past-time description. Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “Later the development of this area.” Use past-tense forms consistently, check subject–verb agreement, and make sure each sentence has a complete clause. More accurate control of these patterns would strengthen the range you are attempting.
