Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main changes: the shared car park becomes separate staff and public facilities, the bus stops are replaced by a bus station, and two roundabouts are added. The overview therefore captures the broad transformation, and you compare both years. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear. In 2007, the car park is east of Hospital Road, but you describe it as having two entrances; the map shows its entrance connecting to Hospital Road. The hospital is surrounded by Ring Road on its north, west and east sides, rather than simply being “located at the north.” In 2010, the public car park is accessed from Ring Road, while the staff car park remains east of Hospital Road. The bus station’s connections could also be described more precisely. Clearer, accurate location details would strengthen the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate descriptions of 2007 and 2010. This gives the reader a basic chronological progression, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Moreover,” and “Furthermore” help signal relationships. However, some connections feel mechanical or do not clarify the relationship between ideas. For example, “Moreover, the Hospital Road was had three bus stop in the edges in addition” combines several linking phrases, while the overview’s short statements do not flow smoothly into one another. References such as “it” in “it located in a different area” are also unclear. Organise each year’s features in a consistent spatial order and use fewer, more precise transitions to make the progression easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant map vocabulary, including “surrounded,” “Ring Road,” “car park,” “bus station,” and “roundabout,” so the reader can identify the main features being described. There are also attempts to express change, such as “separated” and “replaced.” However, the range and control of vocabulary are limited, and several word choices or spellings make the description less clear: “distibuted bus stop,” “entrence,” and “conected.” Phrases such as “car park of car and public” and “in the edges” are not natural ways to describe these features. Aim for accurate collocations such as “shared staff and public car park,” “individual bus stops,” and “on either side of Hospital Road.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise location phrases will improve clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the use of past forms is appropriate for describing changes between two dated maps. However, errors in sentence structure, verb forms, articles, and agreement occur often enough to make some relationships difficult to understand. For example, “Overall, the car park of car and public was separated to the car park” lacks a clear grammatical structure, and “the Hospital Road was had” uses incompatible verb forms. “Moreover, added two roundabout” has no clear subject and needs plural agreement. In “the Ring Road surrounded the city hospital had three entrences,” the clauses are not joined correctly. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles, plurals, and verb forms before submitting.
