Student answer (Band 4.5)
in 2007 there was no specific area for public car parking so that was a week point in that and also there were no bus stations there as in 2010 these two invitations could have made the transportation easier to manange . before there were same parking space for public and saff parking which could cause a issue and also the making of roundabout and a bus station is a great thing to be done in 2010

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify several relevant changes, including the separation of staff and public parking and the addition of a bus station and roundabouts. However, the response only minimally reports the maps: it gives no clear, systematic account of the road layout or how access changed between 2007 and 2010, and it does not provide a concise overview of the main developments. The claim that there were no bus stations in 2007 is broadly consistent with the map, but the maps show bus stops, not an absence of public transport. Your comments about whether changes were “a great thing” are evaluative rather than a factual summary. The response is also 73 words below the required minimum, leaving important features unreported. Describe the locations and changes objectively and cover the main features.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic chronological direction, moving from 2007 to 2010, and uses linking expressions such as “before” and “also.” This gives the reader some sense that you are comparing two stages. However, the ideas are compressed into one long sentence, with no paragraphing or clear progression from an overview to specific changes. The opening phrase “in 2007” is followed by several points joined with “and,” so the relationships between them are not always clear. The reference “these two invitations” is also unclear and interrupts the flow. Separate the overview from the details, and use clear links such as “By 2010” and “In addition” to guide the comparison.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “public car parking,” “bus stations,” “parking space,” and “roundabout,” so the reader can identify the general subject. However, the range is limited, and several choices are inaccurate or informal for describing maps. “Invitations” does not express the transport changes; “developments” or “improvements” would fit better. “A great thing to be done” is conversational and evaluative rather than precise. There are also noticeable spelling errors in “week point,” “saff,” and “manange,” and “parking space” would be clearer as “car park” in this context. Build a small set of accurate terms for locations and changes, such as “was replaced by,” “was added,” and “was designated for staff.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, but the response relies on a narrow range of structures, and errors frequently make the relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “in 2007 there was no specific area for public car parking so that was a week point in that” has an unclear clause structure, while “before there were same parking space” is missing an article and has an awkward plural pattern. The final clause, “the making of roundabout and a bus station is a great thing to be done in 2010,” also has problems with articles and sentence construction. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, particularly at sentence beginnings. Practise writing short, complete comparison sentences first, then combine them with accurate clauses using “whereas” or “by 2010.”
