Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the main subject and mention several relevant changes, including the new bus station, separate parking areas and roundabouts. However, the comparison is only partial and some locations are misreported: the public car park is east of the Ring Road, not “on the left of the City Hospital,” and the staff car park remains east of Hospital Road rather than being “on the left” of a roundabout. The 2007 bus stops and their removal by 2010 are also important features that are not clearly described. Your overview says changes were made but does not summarise the main transformation precisely. To develop the response, describe the layout in both years accurately and compare the key changes directly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic sequence, moving from the 2007 map to the 2010 map and then offering an overall statement. This gives the reader a general sense of the comparison. However, progression within paragraphs is not always clear: the 2010 description shifts from the public car park to the route from City Road, then to the bus station and staff parking without consistently anchoring each feature to its location. Connectors such as “On the other side” and “Overall” are used, but some transitions are vague or do not express the relationship accurately. Organise the report into a clear overview followed by one paragraph for each map, and use location-based links such as “to the east of” and “along Hospital Road.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “ring road,” “roundabout,” “Bus Station” and “staff car parking,” so the reader can recognise the subject. However, the range is limited and several phrases are imprecise or awkward, such as “public transfer for the people who visit to the hospital” and “the Public Car Parking area go on the left.” Repetition of “road,” “car parking” and “changes” also limits precision. Choose standard map-description terms and use them consistently, for example “car park,” “bus stops,” “located” and “access.” More accurate directional vocabulary would also help distinguish east, west, north and south rather than relying on “left” or “the other side.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, but control is inconsistent. Errors in verb forms and sentence construction appear in examples such as “when you coming from the city road” and “the left road go to the Bus Station.” Articles, agreement and punctuation also need attention, as in “there is round about” and “Overall, there some changes made.” These problems sometimes make the relationships between features harder to follow. Practise forming complete comparative sentences with a clear subject and verb, such as “In 2010, the bus stops were replaced by a bus station.” Check articles and agreement, and use full stops to separate ideas rather than joining several directions into one sentence.
