Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response identifies the two years and mentions the separation of staff and public parking, which are relevant changes. However, it reports several key features inaccurately: the public car park is east of Ring Road, not east of the hospital, and the staff car park remains east of Hospital Road rather than being described as below the public car park. The bus stops were replaced by a bus station, not by a roundabout; the roundabouts were added at the junctions of Hospital Road with Ring Road and City Road. The claim that the rest remained the same also overlooks these substantial access changes. The overview and details are therefore limited and partly misread. The response is also below the required 150 words; add accurate comparisons and describe the main road and transport changes more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a basic overall structure: an opening sentence, an overview, and a detail paragraph. This gives the reader some sense of how the response is organised. However, the progression is limited because the details are not grouped or compared systematically, and the overview says that most things remained the same before the final paragraph introduces changes without explaining their relationships. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “Looking into details,” and “Moreover” show an attempt to connect ideas, but “By contrast” does not express a clear contrast in this context. Develop a clearer sequence—for example, first describe the new roundabouts and bus station, then explain the separate car parks—and use references that make each location easy to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “road access,” “car parking,” “east side,” and “bus stop,” so the main subject is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or awkward. “Bus stop was transformed into round about” mislabels the change: the stops were replaced by a bus station, while roundabouts were added at road junctions. “Established public car parking” and “separately made” are also unnatural collocations for describing map changes. Spelling errors such as “seprately” and “round about” reduce accuracy. Use precise map vocabulary such as “was added,” “was replaced by,” “was located,” and “junction,” and check spelling and standard forms such as “roundabout.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts a few sentence forms, including a contrast with “By contrast” and a participial opening, but most sentences rely on simple structures and control is uneven. Capitalisation and punctuation are problematic: “Overall, The City hospital…” and “In 2010 City hospital…” use capitals inconsistently, while the overview contains a comma splice and a sentence fragment beginning “while rest…”. There are also faulty verb patterns in “hospital built” and “were remained same,” and missing articles in phrases such as “on east side.” These errors sometimes make the relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise complete sentences with accurate past passive forms, for example, “A public car park was added,” and use full stops or conjunctions to separate clauses.
