Student answer (Band 5.5)
Today most people leave their home country and live in the countries which use different languages. It can be a huge problem in social aspect as well as in the practical aspect. I agree with this statement. Even if there are lots of benefits, the disadvantages takes huge place rather than advantages.
Firstly, when we live in a country that use a foreign language, can be drive us towards numerous difficulties. If someone live their for study purpose, they couldn't communicate properly with the lecturers and it will make them difficult to complete the study. Also, it increases the stress level and anxiety as well. Secondly, when it comes to working environment we can not achieve our daily targets without knowing the language properly. Therefore, it reduces our performances and make restrictions for the career development. Sometimes, it makes the communication errors and others may misunderstand the informations given by us. So, it may course for serious problems in the working environment.
There are several advantages as well. If we can improve a foreign language it gives a high chanse to the career development. It helps us to overcome the huge competition in the job market. Also, when we frequently mixed up with foreign people we can gain an idea about different cultures as well. Furthermore, it is very easy to communicate and express our feelings when we know the foreign language.
In conclusion, although there are many advantages of knowing a foreign language, there are lots of disadvantages as well. Because it makes people make misunderstand and make boundries in career development and study environments. Therefore, I believe that there are many social and practical problems if we are living in a country which use a foreign language.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You take a clear position, stating, “I agree with this statement,” and address both social and practical consequences, including communication difficulties in study and work. You also acknowledge benefits of learning the language, which gives the response some balance. However, the discussion does not fully distinguish social problems from practical ones: most examples concern study or employment, while social effects are mentioned only briefly through stress and cultural contact. Several claims, such as reduced career development and misunderstandings at work, would be more convincing with a specific example or fuller explanation. Develop the social dimension and explain how the disadvantages outweigh the benefits more explicitly to make the argument more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on difficulties, a paragraph on advantages, and a conclusion that restates your view. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main stages. However, some connections feel mechanical, and the relationship between ideas is not always clear. For example, the paragraph about advantages shifts from career opportunities to cultural understanding and then communication without explaining how these points relate to your overall comparison. The conclusion also repeats earlier claims rather than drawing them together. Use clearer topic sentences and link each example to the central argument; vary transitions and use pronouns or other references carefully to avoid repetition.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “stress level,” “anxiety,” “career development,” “competition in the job market,” and “different cultures.” These choices make your main points understandable. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, which limits precision: “the disadvantages takes huge place,” “reduces our performances,” and “make restrictions for the career development” do not express your meaning naturally. There are also spelling errors, including “chanse” and “boundries,” and “informations” is not the appropriate form. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling and word forms. More precise language for social isolation, workplace communication, and practical barriers would help you express the argument more flexibly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional clauses such as “If someone live there for study purpose” and a concession beginning “although there are many advantages.” This shows an effort to vary structure, but control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make sentences difficult to process. Examples include “a country that use,” “the disadvantages takes,” and “it will make them difficult to complete the study,” where agreement or sentence construction needs correction. The opening of the second paragraph, “when we live …, can be drive us,” is also structurally faulty. Practise building complete clauses with a clear subject and verb, and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and plural forms. More accurate complex sentences would strengthen clarity.
