Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is often discussed that language barrier can cause major social and practical problem for people who lives in different country. I strongly agree with this view and this essay will show the reasons behind this belief.
Many people lives in a country where they have to talk in foreign language. For instance, students from Bangladesh who go to Canada for higher study, need to talk in English. Though they achieve a certain level of linguistic skill, there are always some differences in language understanding between native and immigrant. For this reason, they might face problems understanding their academic content as the lectures are given their in English. Furthermore, due to to this language barrier, they might face difficulties while socialising. Consequently, this could lead them into loneliness and depression.
Another problem of speaking in foreign langauge is related to practical life. To illustrate, people from bangladesh who goes to China for working purpose are highly recomended to learn Chinese language. Nevertheless, it is a very difficult language to master. So, many people might not be able to learn it as well as use it properly when needed. For instance, if someone is sick and goes to doctor, he might not be able to make the doctor understand his situation. As a result, he might not get proper treatment which could lead him to serious health issue.
In conclusion, it is evident that the people who lives in a country where communicating in a foreign language is mandatory may lead to serious social and practical problems, and the disscusion above strongly supports my agreement in this view.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear from the introduction (“I strongly agree”) and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address both kinds of problems in the prompt: social difficulties, such as trouble socialising and possible loneliness, and practical difficulties, illustrated by explaining symptoms to a doctor. The examples involving students in Canada and workers in China are relevant, and you explain the consequences of each. This gives the response a clear, supported argument. Some claims are broad—for example, that language difficulties may lead to depression or serious health problems—and the academic example could explain more specifically how communication affects study. Developing these links with a little more detail and qualification would make the support more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear overall progression: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs develop social and practical consequences, and the conclusion restates your position. Paragraphing is appropriate, and signposts such as “For this reason,” “Furthermore,” and “As a result” help readers follow the cause-and-effect reasoning. The examples are placed in the relevant paragraphs, so the organisation is easy to understand. Some linking is a little formulaic, with several transitions explicitly announcing the next point or consequence. The conclusion also repeats the central claim rather than drawing the two strands together. To strengthen cohesion, vary the links and use clearer references between related ideas, while allowing the reasoning itself to show how one point leads to another.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range to discuss the topic, including relevant terms such as “language barrier,” “linguistic skill,” “socialising,” and “proper treatment.” These choices make the main ideas clear, and phrases such as “academic content” and “serious health issue” suit the examples. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “talk in foreign language,” “for working purpose,” and “make the doctor understand his situation.” There are also spelling errors in “langauge,” “recomended,” and “disscusion,” as well as inconsistent capitalisation of “Bangladesh.” These do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision. Aim for more natural collocations and proofread spelling and proper nouns carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “Though,” “as,” and “if,” and the cause-and-effect relationships are generally understandable. However, some grammatical errors recur and reduce accuracy. Subject–verb agreement is a particular issue: “Many people lives,” “people … who goes,” and “the people who lives” should use plural verb forms. Articles and sentence construction also need attention, as in “language barrier” and “goes to doctor.” The phrase “due to to this” contains a duplicated preposition, while “the lectures are given their in English” has an incorrect form and word order. Review agreement, articles, and clause construction, then check each sentence for small errors before submitting.
