Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both social and practical problems, though the development is uneven. You clearly state your position in the introduction, which is a strength. However, the argument regarding migration causing inflation and environmental damage is somewhat tangential to the core issue of language barriers. While you attempt to provide examples, such as the housing prices in Toronto, the link between language barriers and these economic outcomes is not explicitly explained, making the argument feel slightly disconnected. To improve, ensure that every point directly relates back to the challenges of living in a foreign language environment.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'In a nutshell' to guide the reader. However, the transition between ideas is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is disrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'my opinion is two forth in the upcoming paragraphs'. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, which occasionally forces the reader to re-read sentences to grasp the intended meaning. Improving the variety and naturalness of your linking words will help achieve a higher band score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting to use more sophisticated terms like 'irrefutable', 'bolster', and 'skyrocket'. However, there are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'commute to several other nation' (nations), 'penitentiaries and coropol punishments' (corporal), and 'prune of forests' (clearing). These errors occasionally impede the precision of your argument. To improve, focus on learning the correct collocations for the words you use and ensure you are using vocabulary in the appropriate context to avoid confusion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, they are frequently marred by grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('migrators required jobs', 'house price... was... skyrocket') and incorrect verb forms ('do not able to cope up'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in sentence construction that make some parts of the text difficult to follow. To reach a higher band, you need to focus on consistent control over basic grammar, particularly verb tenses and pluralization, and ensure that your complex sentences are constructed accurately.
