Student answer (Band 6.0)

Surviving in a nation where you have to communicate with overseas languages that can cause a critical social issues, as well realistic issues. I strongly agree with the given statement. This essay highlights the reasons for being in favor of languages problems with valid explanations and examples.

To begin with, majorities for the people who are living in abroad are facing the language problem. Especially the individuals who live there for the woke or study purpose and immigrants living in countries for instance, Germany, Spain, Brazil and many more face difficulties to communicate with their employs and classmates. Moreover, getting jobs at the higher companies demands for the C1 level of the native language of the countries. And it's quite problematic for the person who doesn't know the language. Predominantly, to learn a new language is quite difficult for the fresh person and this process is time consuming where one individual should at least give 1-2 years.

Furthermore, when we talk about the practical issues majorities of the immigrants are facing weather conditions. For instance, an Indian student or worker who live several years in above 40 degree celsius cannot directly sustain in below 10 degree. Moreover, the culture issues are occurred as well as food problems are faced by the people living abroad.

In conclusion, social problem are occur due to language problem and in a practical issues weather, homesickness and culture problems are faced by the people who are living in abroad. Therefore, to sustain in different countries we should learn their native language to maintain our social life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses the prompt by agreeing with the statement and providing reasons. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While the language barrier is discussed, the second body paragraph shifts focus to weather and culture, which are not directly related to the 'foreign language' aspect of the prompt. This leads to a lack of focus on the core argument. The position is clear, but the supporting points are under-developed and sometimes tangential, particularly the discussion on weather conditions, which does not stem from language difficulties. To improve, ensure every paragraph directly supports the central thesis regarding the impact of language barriers.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'To begin with', 'Moreover', 'In conclusion'), they are occasionally used mechanically or incorrectly, such as the transition into the paragraph about weather. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the link between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother. The final conclusion repeats points mentioned earlier but does not effectively synthesise the argument. Improving the logical flow between sentences and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would enhance the coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'woke or study purpose' (likely meaning 'work'), 'fresh person' (meaning 'newcomer'), and 'culture issues are occurred'. These errors occasionally cause the reader to pause. The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on basic descriptors. To achieve a higher score, you should focus on using more precise collocations and academic vocabulary, and ensure that word forms are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'social problem are occur'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'majorities for the people who are living in abroad'). While the meaning is generally understandable, these errors are persistent and occur in both simple and complex sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence patterns and proofreading for common errors like pluralisation and verb tense consistency. Increasing the variety of error-free complex structures will also help raise your score.
