Student answer (Band 6.0)
Small business are vanishing and being overtaken by the huge listed organisations. I strongly believe that cons are more then benefits to replace small companies. This essay highlights the merits and demerits with valid explanations and examples.
On the one hand, in today’s world the small companies are growing rapidly due to the requirements. To work in the multinational companies some kind of degree’s are required and there are people who don’t get a good amount of education due to this they directly cannot enroll. Moreover, small companies doesn’t have such kind of criteria and it’s beneficial for individuals and companies as well. For instance, in India there are lot’s of small industries where experience is given importance rather then a degree. Furthermore, small businesses foster a sense of community and support local supply chains, which keeps wealth distributed.
On the other hand, multinational companies bring a certain advantages, particularly in efficiency and quality-control. Because of their large scale, the companies can offer various kind of goods in cheaper price for the general public. In addition, these companies often introduce advance technologies and standardized inspection that the small industries cannot afford.
In conclusion, although multinational corporations provide cheaper products and high quality of services, the loss of small businesses severely impact local employment and regional salaries. Thus, the disadvantages of this outweigh the advantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response is significantly off-topic. The prompt asks about the social and practical problems of living in a country where one must speak a foreign language. However, your essay discusses the competition between small businesses and multinational corporations. Because you have completely misunderstood the prompt, the task achievement is severely impacted. Additionally, the essay is under the 250-word minimum requirement, which further limits the development of ideas. To improve, you must carefully analyze the prompt's keywords before writing to ensure your response directly addresses the specific question asked.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs with some use of cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'Moreover,' and 'In conclusion.' However, because the content is irrelevant to the prompt, the logical progression of ideas does not support the task. While the paragraphing is sufficient, the internal cohesion is undermined by the fact that the arguments do not relate to the topic of foreign language barriers. To improve, focus on ensuring that every paragraph directly supports the central thesis statement related to the actual prompt.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'multinational organisations,' 'efficiency,' and 'standardized inspection.' There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'cons are more then benefits' (should be 'more than') and 'cheaper price' (should be 'lower prices'). While the vocabulary is generally sufficient to convey meaning, it is not sophisticated enough to reach higher bands. Focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring correct word forms to enhance your lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('small business are,' 'small companies doesn’t') and incorrect pluralization ('degree’s,' 'lot’s of'). Punctuation is generally functional, but these recurring errors in basic grammar structures prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and avoid unnecessary apostrophes in plural nouns. Proofreading for these common errors will help improve your overall accuracy.
