Student answer (Band 5.5)

Communicate other than our mother tongue is indeed very difficult and challenging for oneself to make other person understand there thoughts. All above living in different country means along with change in language there is change in culture and people thinking and beliefs. Though a person learn the native language still communicating and would be the major problem if the natives are not welcoming .Which ultimately create problem in knowing the social problem and practical problem.

As one person who from childhood talk in there mother tongue now adapting the new language is difficult and even more difficult to learn and to know there people thinking and belief. Even learning new language like French , Germany ,English is not easy ,as even the person know the basic they cant learn the words which might 4 to5 different meaning and using in different way which might only native speaker know. So other than just grammatical and alphabetics there is other than that words and phrases which might took time to learn. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing social and practical challenges of living in a foreign country. However, the essay is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence, which prevents a full development of the argument. The position is generally clear, but the lack of a conclusion and the failure to meet the minimum word count (248 words) significantly impact the score. While the ideas regarding cultural nuances and language barriers are relevant, they are under-developed due to the unfinished nature of the text. To improve, ensure you complete your thoughts and provide a clear summary or conclusion to fully address all parts of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, with paragraphs focusing on language difficulties and cultural differences. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. Cohesive devices are used, but they are frequently mechanical or misused (e.g., 'All above', 'As one person who from childhood'). The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of the argument. Paragraphing is present but the final paragraph is incomplete, which disrupts the overall structure. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring a logical transition between sentences would enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'communicate other than our mother tongue' instead of 'communicating in a language other than one's mother tongue' and 'alphabetics' instead of 'alphabet' or 'grammar'. The range is sufficient to convey basic meaning, but there is a lack of precision and sophistication. The student struggles to express complex ideas clearly due to these lexical limitations. To reach a higher band, focus on learning collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary rather than relying on basic, sometimes inaccurate, phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are frequent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'there thoughts', 'there people thinking'), article usage, and sentence structure. Complex sentence attempts are often faulty, leading to confusion. For example, 'Even learning new language like French , Germany ,English is not easy ,as even the person know the basic they cant learn the words' contains multiple errors in punctuation, capitalization, and grammar. While the meaning is generally discernible, the lack of control over basic structures and the high error rate limit the score significantly.
