Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the world, there are thousands of languages through which people communicate with each other. Each country has its own primary language

differ from other languages. If we know the language of the foreign country, there will not be any social problems.

Sperate countries have common way of speaking and having conversation. If we know that specific country language, there will not be any serious social problems including practical problems. The barriers to these problems are languages not the people. For example, I am Nepali if I have to live in USA, there will not be any serious social and practical problems for me because I am familiar with English language. For someone who are going to study in foreign countries there might be some social and practical problems at the beginning, but when they get used to those languages their problems will be eliminated. Serious social and practical problems can arise in language barriers, when we do not know the language. All over the world having common communication are same in general but only the languages are not common to each other. For the foreign countries learning their language is one the first thing we should consider before going to avoid such social problems like loneliness, depression, anxiety etc. Social problems and practical problems cannot come when we speak a foreign language but can when we do not speak that language through which people communicate with each other's.

In the conclusion, speaking other language cannot cause serious social problems as the expressing the emotion and understanding is common around the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the relationship between language barriers and social/practical problems. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. While you state your position clearly, the arguments lack depth and specific supporting evidence beyond a brief personal example. The essay tends to over-generalize, suggesting that language is the sole factor in social integration, ignoring other cultural or systemic barriers. To improve, you should explore the nuances of the prompt, such as how language affects employment opportunities or social isolation in more detail, rather than repeating the same point about 'knowing the language' multiple times.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into two paragraphs, but the structure is quite basic. The progression of ideas is often circular, with sentences repeating similar points rather than building a logical argument. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often mechanical or misused, such as the abrupt transition 'In the conclusion'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences feels disjointed. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'nevertheless') and ensure that each sentence contributes a new idea to the overall argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic, repetitive phrasing such as 'social and practical problems' and 'knowing the language'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'Sperate countries' (likely meaning 'Separate') and 'having common communication are same'. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'linguistic barriers', 'cultural assimilation', or 'proficiency', and pay closer attention to collocations to ensure your word choices sound natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'For someone who are going'), article usage, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'the barriers to these problems are languages not the people'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence construction often feels forced. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence patterns and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency. Increasing the variety of complex structures will also help demonstrate better grammatical control.
