Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's rapidly changing world, foreign language has become a widely discussed topic because foreign language is a paramount for the communication of the international people. While some people believe that living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language is the causes of serious social problems but i strongly disagree with this view because in my opinion foriegn language has practical problem while travelling or for job.

The primary reason for my opinion is that, speak foreign language is more complex as well as social problems. beacuse practical language is barrier while travelling and speak to another person face to face. For instance, when a people go for a trip or visit another countries they have problem to speak their language. because one of the main practical problems of not knowing a foreign language is difficulty in finding work overases. Some people feel hesitate to speak foriegn language to the lack of confidence. and some people believe that they mocking me. but if i talk about a another reason of social problem i disagree with this because i think its not too difficult, its not a serious problem. For example if people speak or attend any class or meeting sometimes its a internet problem and they have to time to see their mistakes.

Another significant reason is that can't get job abroad without foreign language beacuse of the lack of practical, Furthermore trying to not speak english with another person face to face. they can't built their confidance.A clear example of this is, if a person going for interview and they not speak proper foriegn or english language he become a introvert person so he didn't get the job to abroad.Foreign practical language is more important in contemproray world beacuse its need in every way like for a job, while travelling, and attend the meetin to international client.

In conlusion, although different opinion exist regarding foreign language is a impror

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt but struggles to maintain a clear, consistent position. While you state you disagree with the idea that foreign language causes serious social problems, the development of this argument is fragmented. You mention practical issues like job hunting and travel, but the connection to the prompt's core question—whether these constitute 'serious social problems'—is often lost. Some ideas, such as the mention of 'internet problems' or 'mocking', are underdeveloped and do not clearly support your stance. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-explained reason that directly supports your thesis statement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is frequently interrupted by disjointed sentences and unclear transitions. While you use some cohesive devices like 'For instance' and 'Furthermore', they are often used incorrectly or do not effectively link the ideas. The progression of arguments is difficult to follow because the sentences often lack a clear relationship to one another. Additionally, the conclusion is incomplete, which impacts the overall coherence of the piece. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly improve the structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'problem', 'language', and 'speak' throughout the text. There are also frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'international people' instead of 'international communication' and 'overases' (spelling error). While you attempt to use more complex vocabulary, the lack of precision often hinders clarity. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise synonyms and collocations, and ensure you are using words in their correct context, such as 'professional' instead of 'practical' in certain instances.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There is a high frequency of grammatical errors throughout the essay, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'a people go', 'he become a introvert'), missing articles, and incorrect sentence structures. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, which makes them difficult to parse. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, these are often where the most significant errors occur. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction—ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb—before attempting more complex, multi-clause sentences. Proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency will also help.
