Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by acknowledging both social and practical problems. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you mention language barriers in Germany, the connection between these barriers and the resulting social/practical problems is somewhat superficial. For instance, the claim that learning a language 'disturbs your immune system' is an unsupported and illogical assertion that detracts from the argument. To improve, ensure that each point is logically linked to the prompt and supported with clear, relevant reasoning rather than anecdotal or confusing claims. The position is clear, but the overall development lacks the depth required for a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'Likely' are used incorrectly to mean 'For example' or 'Similarly', and 'Afterwards' is used in a way that does not logically connect the preceding sentence to the next. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph where the transition from employment issues to health concerns is abrupt and confusing. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic phrasing, and there are several instances of incorrect word choice or collocation, such as 'pass a life in the better way' and 'understand the anyone opinion'. There is also a confusion between 'German' and 'Dutch' when discussing the language spoken in Germany. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'specialization' and 'language barrier', the overall range is insufficient to express complex ideas with precision. Focus on learning collocations and using more academic vocabulary to convey your points more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede communication. Issues include missing articles ('in country', 'in Germany'), incorrect verb forms ('you should be speak', 'they creates'), and sentence fragments. The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. For example, 'If you don't so English is mandatory' is grammatically incorrect. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles. Reducing the frequency of these errors is essential for moving to a higher band.
