Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses the prompt by discussing both social and practical problems related to living in a foreign country. However, the development of ideas is limited and often repetitive. While you state your position, the supporting examples, such as the mention of China, are unclear and do not effectively illustrate the point about language barriers. The arguments remain at a surface level, and the conclusion simply restates the introduction without adding depth. To improve, focus on providing specific, well-explained examples that directly support your main arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is frequently interrupted by unclear phrasing and disjointed sentences. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'However' and 'In addition', but they are often applied incorrectly or in a mechanical way. The referencing is sometimes confusing, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of your argument. Improving the use of transition signals and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'particular problems' instead of 'practical problems' and 'understanding barriers'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'numarious', 'bigestest', and 'langeuge'. You rely on basic vocabulary, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas precisely. To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning topic-specific collocations and ensuring correct spelling of common academic terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('Living in a foreign country give you'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, which hinders readability. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, these are often inaccurate, leading to confusion. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions, before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
