Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today’s world more and more are immigrating or emigrating to the other countries for their better future, this may cause them face social and practical challenges while living there. I completely agree with statement and explain in this essay why.

At first, people feel it difficult to create a social bond with colleagues at their workplace or with classmates at institutes, as language barrier. This may make them home sick or depressed and affect them psychologically. Consequently they become less focused to their work progress or academic studies. For instance, European nation priorities local languages rather than English.

Secondly, people have to face difficulties to get settle in the society. Due to language problem it is more demanding for graduates to find a job after graduation because of certain language requirements at workplace. As a result they have to suffer financially or settle with jobs where domestic language is not that crucial part of the job. For example, in many foreign countries people are working in farms or warehouses where language does not matter but physical strength do

In conclusion, in foreign countries people suffer from psychological challenges owing to they do not speak their language where they living. This may make mentally ill or depressed, that is the reason people lose chances to acquire jobs to support themselves financially and who have jobs lose their focus at and same work student who are studying in university or college face academic downfall because they are not mental support which they usually from their friends and classmates.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses the prompt by discussing both social and practical challenges. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention psychological issues and employment difficulties, the arguments lack depth and specific, well-explained examples. For instance, the mention of European nations prioritizing local languages is vague and does not clearly illustrate the 'social problems' mentioned in the prompt. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations and concrete, illustrative examples rather than listing general observations. Your position is clear throughout, but the overall response feels slightly underdeveloped for a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices like 'At first,' 'Secondly,' and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of cohesive devices is repetitive. There are also instances where the connection between ideas is weak, such as the transition between the psychological impact and the academic downfall in the conclusion. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the progression of ideas within paragraphs is smoother and more sophisticated.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on common, sometimes imprecise phrasing, such as 'get settle' (should be 'settle in') and 'academic downfall.' There are also some word-choice errors, such as 'mental support which they usually from their friends,' which is grammatically incomplete and lexically awkward. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to immigration, social integration, and professional challenges. Focus on learning collocations—words that naturally go together—to make your writing sound more natural and professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'more and more are immigrating' (missing noun), 'as language barrier' (should be 'due to the language barrier'), and 'where they living' (should be 'where they are living'). Subject-verb agreement and preposition usage are also inconsistent. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic errors like missing auxiliary verbs and incorrect word forms to improve your accuracy.
