Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt but lacks depth and development. While you state your agreement, the arguments provided are anecdotal and lack a clear, logical structure. The essay relies heavily on a single personal example about an uncle in Italy, which is not sufficiently linked to the broader social and practical problems mentioned in the prompt. The ideas are under-developed, and the conclusion simply restates the prompt without synthesising the points made. To improve, you should focus on providing clear, distinct arguments for both social and practical challenges, supported by general examples rather than just personal anecdotes.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the internal structure is weak. The progression of ideas is disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as the abrupt transition 'Thus, discussed in this essay.' Referencing is often unclear, and the link between the introduction, the body paragraph, and the conclusion is tenuous. The flow is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing, making it difficult for the reader to follow your line of reasoning. Using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') would help improve the logical flow between sentences and paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms like 'problems' and 'countries.' There are several spelling errors, such as 'speaak,' 'tounge,' and 'peoples,' which indicate a lack of control over basic vocabulary. You also struggle with collocations, such as 'countries are consist barrier mother tounge' and 'make pressure towards police,' which are non-standard and impede clarity. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary to include more precise, academic terms and ensure that words are used in their correct context and with accurate spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often affect the clarity of your message. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'every country do have,' 'countries are consist'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, and the misuse of punctuation is evident throughout. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty, leading to confusion. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for common errors in tense and word order before submitting your work.
