Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's globalised world, people migrate to other nations in search of job and a better standard of living for which have to speak foreign languages. I completely agree with this notion that it might create not only social problems but practical problems also, particularly in the initial stages of settlement.

To begin with the primary reason behind my agreement is that they can face difficulty in different task of everyday life. People who are unable to speak in the local language of that particular country can face consequences in communication with doctors, government officials and even with the shopkeepers. This will make their life challenging. To clarify, there are some chances that they can misunderstood important informations. As a result, tio find better employment can be more difficult and challenging for them.

Furthermore, limited language proficiency can lead to social isolation. They can face difficulty in communicating with the local people. Since, communication is the foundation of relationship, immigrants who do not speak and communicate in the foreign language are unable to make friends and built relationships with their neighbours. They can feel hesitation in interacting with other residents because of the language barrier. This will result as loneliness and reduced self confidence.

In conclusion, I reaffirm that living or shifting in other nation without a knowledge of their local can lead to both practical and social problems. although these problems could be solved if anyone practice their communication skills and try hard to improve them , the living in another country will not come a challenge.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

You have addressed all parts of the prompt, clearly stating your agreement and providing relevant arguments regarding both practical and social challenges. Your position is consistent throughout the essay. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention difficulties with doctors and officials, the explanation remains quite general. To reach a higher band, you should aim to extend your supporting points with more specific examples or deeper analysis. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and slightly unclear in its final sentence, which impacts the overall clarity of your argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'Since, communication is the foundation...'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and some sentences lack smooth transitions between ideas. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that each sentence connects logically to the next will enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms like 'globalised', 'proficiency', and 'isolation'. However, there are several errors in word choice and collocation that occasionally hinder the flow, such as 'different task of everyday life' (should be 'tasks') and 'built relationships' (should be 'build'). You also struggle with word forms, such as using 'misunderstood' instead of 'misunderstand' and 'loneliness' instead of 'lonely'. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, you need to focus on more precise collocations and accurate word forms to achieve a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a positive step. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('anyone practice' instead of 'anyone practices'), missing articles ('in other nation'), and awkward sentence construction ('the living in another country will not come a challenge'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence patterns and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency.
