Student answer (Band 5.0)
I am totally disagree with this statement because foreign language is not the solution to cause the serious social problems.
Firstly , there is many people alive which is not ware about the foreign language because the poeple not educated and they not get enough languages course so if you give any solution the people not be able to get your point.
Secondly, here is some example about the real life , one day i go to my friend’s house there is some uneducated people which is sitting around the table and all they involving some strange conversation on that point i am just there and listen all the discussion but at that moment i just want to give some solution which is linked with the conversation the people just listen to me but not get my point because i just tell all the reasons in foreign language after this i realise i am wrong .
Here is another example when i am in travelling. Some people are in the buss and start travelling with me . On the half of the travel the buss stoped because there is some problem in the engine and the poeple were getting out . Although, poeple worried about the situation because they have six little children with them. They just started to crying the reason behind this childrens were hungry . I am there and i have some biscuits i just offering to eat this but they not getting my point the reason behind this i use foreign language.
In the last, i just want to say i am totally disagree with the statement speak a foreign language not be cause serious social problem

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt, but the position is not clearly developed. While you state you disagree with the statement, your supporting arguments are confusing and do not directly address the prompt's core premise regarding the social and practical problems of living in a foreign-language environment. The examples provided, such as the anecdote about the bus, are anecdotal and do not effectively support a clear argument. The ideas are under-developed, and the connection between the examples and the prompt is weak, making it difficult for the reader to follow your reasoning. To improve, ensure your arguments directly relate to the prompt and provide clear, logical explanations for your position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is often unclear. The use of cohesive devices is very limited and sometimes mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'Firstly' and 'Secondly'. There are also issues with referencing; for example, in the second paragraph, the transition between the anecdote and your conclusion is abrupt. The logical flow is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, which makes the overall structure feel disjointed. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that supports your main argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas. You rely on basic words and phrases, and there are several instances of incorrect word choice, such as 'not ware' (aware) and 'involving some strange conversation' (engaged in). Some phrases are also unnatural, such as 'in the last' instead of 'in conclusion'. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of precision and the frequent errors in word formation and collocation prevent you from achieving a higher score. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic and precise terms would significantly improve your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
There is a high frequency of grammatical errors throughout the essay, which often impedes communication. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'there is many people'), incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'one day i go'), and missing articles or prepositions. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'the reason behind this childrens were hungry'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and spacing. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and consistent verb tense usage before attempting more complex structures.
