Student answer (Band 5.5)
LIVING IN A COUNTRY WHERE YOU HAVE TO SPEAK FOREIGN LANGUAGE AND EFFECTS A PRACTICAL AND SOCIAL PROBLEMS. MEANWHILE I WOULD AGREE WITH THE ABOVE SENTENCE TO A MAJOR EXCENT, AND HE REASON TO SUPPORT IT WILL BE EXPLAINED IN THE ENSURING PARAGRAPHS, ALONG WITH EXAMPLES.
DISCUSSING THE REASON TO SUPPORT MY AGREEMENT, THE MOST EVIDENT ONE IS COMMUNICATION WITH OTHER STUDENTS. IT IS DIFFICULT FOR FOREIGN STUDENT TO COMMUNICATE WITH OTHER STUDENTS. TO JUSTIFY IT FURTHER, FOREIGN STUDENT GET DIFFICULTY IN COMMUNICATE WITH OTHER LANGUAGE AND DIFFICULT TO TALK WITH DOCTORS, POLICEMAN, LAWYER, GOVERNMENT OFFICERS. FOR INSTANCE, FOREIGN STUDENT DOESN`T COMMUNICATE AND FACE MORE LIGGALE OR FINANCE PROBLEM.
FURTHERMORE, ANOTHER ONE OF THE SUPPORTING REASONS FOR MY BELIEF IS THAT FOREIGN STUDENT OR PEOPLE FEEN ALONE. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT FOR THEM TO PARCIPATE IN OTHERS COMMUNITY OR FACE DIFFICULTY IN BUILD FRIENDS. TO BE MORE SPECIFIC, FOREIGN STUDENTS FEEL LONELY, AND TRY TO MAKE ANOTHER COMMUNITY WITH THE PEOPLES WHO SPEAK SAME LANGUAGE.
HOWEVER, THE OTHER SIDE SHOULD NOT BE DISREGARDED. THE MOST SIGNIFICANT AGRUMENT IS IN RECENTLY TECHNOLOGY PROVIDES MANY LANGUAGE LEARNING APPS AND TRANSLATOR APPS. THAT CONNECT WITH THE PEOPLE AND MAKE RELATION WITH THEIR PEOPLE. TO BE MORE SPECIFIC TO UNDERSTAND PEOPLES THOUGHT AND UNDERSTAND INSTRUCTIONS AND ALL. FOR EXAMPLE, LEARNS THEIR LANGUAGE, SO YOU MAKES FREINDS AND ALL AND CREATES A RELATIONSHIPS.
TO CONCLUDE AND OFFER MY VIEWPOINT, I WOULD SUPPORT THAT PEOPLES WHO LIVES IN COUNTRY WHERE THEY SPEAK FOREIGN LANGUAGE THAT CAUSE SOCIAL AND PRACTICAL PROBLEMS. TO A MAJOR EXTENT BECAUSE OF NOT ONLY AFFECTS COMMUNICATING ISSUES BUT ALSO AFFECTS DAILY ROUTINE LIFE.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both social and practical problems, and it maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For example, the points regarding communication with professionals (doctors, lawyers) are mentioned but not fully explored or supported with specific, illustrative examples. The conclusion restates the position but does not synthesize the arguments effectively. While the task is addressed, the lack of depth in the supporting arguments prevents it from reaching a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'To justify it further' and 'To be more specific' are used repeatedly, which makes the flow feel somewhat forced. Additionally, the transition between the body paragraphs and the counter-argument is abrupt. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the third paragraph where the connection between the ideas is weak. Improved use of linking words and better paragraph transitions would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard collocations, such as 'face more liggale or finance problem' and 'make relation with their people'. The student relies on basic vocabulary to express ideas, which restricts the ability to convey more nuanced arguments. Spelling errors, such as 'excent', 'parcipate', and 'freinds', are frequent and occasionally distract the reader. To improve, the student should focus on learning topic-specific collocations and proofreading for basic spelling accuracy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'foreign student get difficulty'), article usage, and sentence construction. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper grammatical structure, such as the opening sentence which is a noun phrase rather than a complete sentence. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of grammatical errors throughout the text significantly impacts the quality of the writing.
