Student answer (Band 6.0)
Language barriers are one of the most common problems faced by people living in foreign countries. Some people believe that living in a country where a foreign language is spoken can lead to serious special problems along with practical problems. I strongly agree this view because language differences make social interaction difficult and create problems in everyday life.
On the one hand, one significant problem caused by language barrier is the difficulty of social interaction. People who can't speak foreign languages in abroad will face challenges to communicate with local people. In addition, they feel hesitated to start a conversation and might feel alone and isolated. Another biggest problem is cultural differences, where people can't understand their traditions or cultures and feel difficult to interact or participate in any events. Moreover, due to language differences miscommunications can happen frequently and this results into misunderstandings. However, it becomes more difficult to be a part of society. For instance, an international student who cannot speak German may find it difficult to make local friends or participate in community activities. Hence, individuals will face social problems due to language difficulty such as making friends, interaction and participation in any events.
On the other hand, people will face practical problems due to language difficulty. People may find it difficult to follow instructions at workplace or study area. In addition, it might be problematic to communicate with teachers, doctors or employers and it results in lower productivity or poor academic performances. Moreover, they will face problems in daily activities such as shopping, because they can't understand the price labels written on them or else types of ingredients used. Furthermore, it can be difficult to use public transport and visiting hospitals. Therefore, people who can't speak foreign language in abroad will face practical issues.
In conclusion, I strongly agree that living in a country where a foreign language is spoken can cause social problems such as facing difficulties to make local friends, interaction or participation in any activities. Apart from these they face practical problems in their everyday life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout. The ideas are relevant, covering both social and practical challenges. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive. For example, the discussion on social problems mentions 'making friends' and 'interaction' multiple times across the second paragraph and the conclusion. To reach a higher band, you should aim to extend your arguments with more specific, nuanced examples rather than listing similar points. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly explored to demonstrate a deeper level of analysis.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate social and practical issues. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'In addition', 'Moreover', and 'Therefore'. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. For instance, the phrase 'In addition' is used frequently. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the sentence 'However, it becomes more difficult to be a part of society', which lacks a clear connection to the preceding point. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task and generally conveys meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'language barriers', 'miscommunications', and 'productivity'. However, there are some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'special problems' (likely meant 'social'), 'feel hesitated' (should be 'feel hesitant'), and 'in abroad' (should be 'abroad'). The range of vocabulary is sufficient but lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing like 'problems' or 'difficult'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'I strongly agree this view' (missing 'with'), 'results into' (should be 'results in'), and 'visiting hospitals' (parallelism error: 'using public transport and visiting hospitals' is fine, but the preceding list items were nouns). There are also minor issues with article usage and verb forms. While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent enough to prevent a higher score. You should focus on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage to improve accuracy.
