Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is a substantial increase in the migration of people to foreign countries in recent years. However, the necessity to speak a foreign language can lead to serious social and practical problems. Though I agree to the fact, there might also be certain advantages to the situation.
One of the major difficult task about settling in abroad is the language. People from their native countries struggle to participate effectively in conversations among others in abroad. It leads to social problems like misunderstanding or lack of understanding and unable to form genuine connections. For example, one of my uncle shifted to Germany for working purpose for few years, but he wasn't able to communicate with his own colleagues and hence felt lonely without any companion. Also, it can create practical problems likewise. For instance, the documentation in the foreign lands are in their own regional or local language making it difficult to understand and proceed. Whether if they are the directions on the road or schedules of trams or buses around the place, all of them are provided in the region's own language challenging the outsiders to settle in.
However, there are also opportunities arising from the same issue. One can get to learn and eduacte themselves on the language which not only benefits them on social and practical aspects but also for their self development. It makes a person more confident and approachable while also providing them benefits like open access to knowledge or research on global level, enhnaced job prospects and developed cognitive skills.
Hence, though I strongly agree to the problems faced by people while travelling or migrating to other countries, I also believe that a person should make most out of it by learning the language for their own easiness into the new world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, acknowledging both social and practical problems while also introducing a counter-perspective regarding the benefits of learning a language. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The practical examples, such as the uncle in Germany or the mention of road signs, are relevant but could be expanded with more depth to fully explore the 'serious' nature of the problems mentioned in the prompt. The conclusion effectively summarizes the stance, but the essay would benefit from a more nuanced exploration of how these problems impact long-term integration versus short-term travel.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the problems from the potential benefits. Cohesive devices such as 'However', 'For instance', and 'Hence' are used to guide the reader through the argument. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing in the second paragraph (e.g., 'the same issue') is clear but could be more sophisticated. Overall, the progression of ideas is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at less common items like 'cognitive skills' and 'enhanced job prospects'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'difficult task about settling in abroad' (should be 'difficult aspect of settling abroad') and 'eduacte themselves' (spelling error). The phrase 'my uncle shifted to Germany' is slightly informal. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on more precise collocations and ensure spelling accuracy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'I agree to the fact' (should be 'I agree with the fact'), 'in abroad' (should be 'abroad'), and 'Whether if they are' (should be 'Whether they are'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor slips throughout. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur with enough frequency to prevent a higher score. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring subject-verb agreement would improve the score.
